Just before Valentines day my daughter went in to get her hair cut. was only going to cut 8 inches off the lady told her hey just 2 more inches and you can donate it.. .. she opted to donate it.. instead of 10 inches the lady cut almost 13.5 due to her cutting it at a angle.. .

still the hair cut looked good.. .. ended up being a inverted bob..

I say.. go for it after the summer.. it is a good cause.. .. so why cut now at 8 inches.. wait a bit longer and go for the donating.. especially if it is for a good cause... whether it is used or not..

Just FYI, I've heard that Locks of Love actually receives far more hair than it actually makes into wigs, and that actually most of the hair it receives, it sells, and then uses the money to buy wigs. (Yes, I know that sounds weird.) IOW donating to LoL may not be all it's cracked up to be. I've never seriously investigated them myself since I dye my hair, but just a heads-up.

Yes, they do sell the hair, but the proceeds offset the cost of production. Surely there's no probs with that?

when I had my brain surgery, I donated my hair. It was down to my waist & shaved clean off :o THey immediately brought my hair out to my mom, who in turn brushed it while crying and praying for 9+ hours.

It never looked so damn good

Id say grow it and donate. My sister was in the 3rd grade and had never had her hair cut, she went for her first hair cut and the camera crew came and LoL came, and they took pictures and things and she made front page of the paper......she donates every 2 years now. but soon when she turns 16 or 17 i know she will start highlighting her hair but it is good she is doing it for now. I have been treating my hair since i was 12 so my hair was no good for them.

I know a big deal of my self-worth was in my hair, and when I was bald I felt terrible and naked & just like a vulnerable freak. I did, however have fun with a bright pink bob once my scar healed, lol.

But back to the point,....your personal annoyance with the hair over the summer will well be worth it when you think of what the charity is doing & what your hair will mean to someone. It's such a worthwhile cause. And it is very much appreciated Kajikit.
