HI!

I have been requested an employment letter to verify Affidavit of Support...my employer does not grant such requests, we use THE WORK NUMBER, how can I go about getting this from my employer? they wont give anything in writing unless I provide them w/a written document stating Immigraion does not complete such verification method...any ideas??

Have you tried simply typing up the letter yourself and giving it to your HR person/boss to sign? Quite often "we don't provide employment verification letters" means "We don't feel it's important enough to take up 30 minutes of our time", so if you do their work for you they'll happily sign it. The only gotcha is that NVC needs the letter to include the official company letterhead, which may be a problem.

Anyway, I went to my HR rep, was told "we don't do this anymore", typed up the letter I needed and sent it to the HR. They filled in the blanks and signed it, problem solved.

No, actually I've seen this with different companies and I believe it's due to some kind of law. Maybe you can type up the letter saying that they can call the 800# and have it signed by your HR department. I mean, there isn't much you can do if that's their policy.

At least in my country, it's a often case of laziness. :)
