What's ironic (I'd go as far as to say bordering on hypocrisy) is that the OP is complaining that the secret service is over-reacting to a woman's threats against Obama, yet this sort of thing is a by-product of the Patriot Act (which is largely a republican measure). Anyone else see the irony there?

What is no less ironic is that the OP (metta) was an ardent supporter of Hillary during the Primaries....like probably her number one fan. And even now, after the nomination process and Hillary's endorsement....he hangs on to one last glimmer of hope that if somehow McCain can win, then Hillary can run again in 4 years.

It's because

I simply believe...

Obama Is A fraud

No, metta, he's a politician....just like Hillary Clinton or John McCain. We're at this point in the election process to choose between two very different tickets. Most voters will decide on the issues, while some, like yourself, will decide based on personal 'feelings.'

Well you know what they say. Some people get 'Hooked on a Feeling'

...that he's in love with them.

it's gonna be a three dog night, for sure.

Ahhhh love all these German influences

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Steve, my observation is based on all sources including Obama shills like this one

Thanks for the response Metta - I am genuinely curious, if it appears otherwise, I apologise.

Believe it or not, I do understand/share some of your concerns but I don't draw the same conclusions I guess. Regarding the community organizer experience, what I find interesting is not whether or not he achieved some single great project (that isn't really the aim of such organizations) but that he played a consistent and active role during those times and very importantly successfully negotiated between layers of community and bureaucracy - he could communicate with and relate equally to people from the most humble backgrounds all the way up to those with the power and the purse strings. That is a very valuable skill in and of itself not just in his candidacy, but also in the role of president.

More than that, what you seem to be suggesting with your charges of finding nothing of note in his resume is that Barack Obama is meaningless beyond his own self serving need to become president. What I find odd about that notion is that there are far easier ways to achieve that particular goal than the path he has chosen and the ideas, policies and plans that he does put forward for his presidency have substance and more importantly are achievable. Why go to all the effort to create such plans when it is quite clear the American voter will vote for someone who has no plan and no message?

While I still do not agree with all of his policies, I prefer them substantially, notably his current plans for the restoration of economic stability and job creation and of course health care reform (Noted that neither candidate has a great plan for health care) to the plans, such as they are, that McCain is putting forward. Making health care more expensive while not demanding any more accountability from the insurers is not something that appeals, nor does reducing taxes on highly profitable corporations in some forlorn hope that this time, the money really will 'trickle' down to the middle income/low income families and improve their beleaguered situation.

Of course, you could be right, and a Barack Obama presidency could also leave no 'footprint' once he left office - the ultimate in 'empty suits' but I find that idea rather difficult to square with the Barack Obama that we are presented with.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

How could any of these stories help our visa journey? Obama or McCain...whoever will win...hope they understand how hard it is to be away from their family. Hope they will make a better change in the visa process. :innocent: Peace!

We all know the process sucks but we are such a small group compared to the population as a whole, so fixing the system probably isn't a priority.
