I am working with a supervisor that manipulates everything..She likes to be inform for everything before we do something.. The result? we are not learning the job.. The good thing is that I have 5 yrs admin, and I dont worry about little things, and too they never gave me job description..

I like working with her as she will just tell me what she needs me to do, but there are days when shes not at work, something will come up and I dont know what to answer or what to give to our Manager.. Reason? I was not copied on some of the important email traffic she have.. And that is really frustrating, feeling stupid because I was not aware of.. It is okay if she will be just in the office everyday, but if shes taking vacation or a short weekends she always put me in charged, or the manager thinks that I knew everything thats going on because I am her assistant..

I am not really complaining in terms of work, i just think I am still blessed for having a job, but if this job makes me feel stupid sometimes, I dont know what to think anymore.

You certainly can't be held responsible for information that your immediate supervisor withheld from you, and regarding her boss that I assume is the manager, only thing you can say, is that information was not shared with you. It's up to this manager to inform your supervisor to keep you abreast if she intends to take time off. So why are you concerned?

Believe every organization has people like that, call it their form of job security, wife has problems every once in awhile, a co-worker that has a couple of weeks of seniority feels she is in charge of her. Ha, just tell her to give that person enough rope, and she will hang herself. Another reply is, "I don't see your signature on my paycheck." Also used that kind of treatment to encourage my step daughter to go to college, really run into that kind of ####### in low level jobs and that she did, is in college now.

Course, you can also talk to your supervisor and tell her the awkward position you are in when she's gone.

I am concerned though because I felt like I failed to give them what they want.. I have talked to my supervisor once before and did tell her about copying me on the email because when she leave for a short vacation work must continue, we can not depend on her anytime.. She have told me yes and also got defensive when you say things to her.. She tells me I have nothing going on right now, and I copied you on every email I think she have this insecurities according to the people who knows her, that she is afraid someone might take her job..

This job really pays well, so I am not really stressing about everything its just I hate when things happen unexpectedly and someone blamed me for something I never did and I was not aware of... I will stay for this job, and will just wait for other position that may come up one day.

I guess I have to learn more how to speak up for myself. I am getting tired of being nice at all times.. I am very patient and very loyal to our company but sometimes I dont know what to think anymore..

I always say stay at a job for at least a year. Along the way, learn everything you can. When the time is right, move along.

In my experience, sometimes if you hang on long enough, that person moves on or is removed, and your job becomes more then you imagined. Patience.

I have to agree

Usually someone like that does not last for too long with the company and hopefully the next supervisor will be better, give it time.
