I know this is probably posted somewhere but please bear with me... I am panicing. I am just under two weeks shy of my interview and Nathan's tax returns are nowhere to be seen in the post from 2 weeks ago. He will order them but how long does it take for the returns to get to him?? Can't believe this is happening I'm going to cry.

No Probem!

He can call IRS 800-829-1040 and get tax transcripts fax to him and then scan or fax them to you.

Tax transcripts are prefered over tax returns.

Hey Mr P :)

Oh well done mate!! Phewww just in time for the 20th!...

I guess she had to literally pay for her mistakes

I am really not sure if I can bring a scanned copy as it is hard to trust a lawyer at this stage...I mean I had to get him to correct spelling mistakes on the DS forms ffs..

Would it make a bit of difference if I printed it off signed as opposed to the 'original' sheet that got lost in the post?? I think I am stressing over sweet FA really.

Wifetobe--

This is the form for the free IRS transcripts that he can fax in. I believe he can call it in too. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf

Transcripts are official from the IRS and are stand alone. They don't require any signatures or supporting documents, etc.

Tax returns are copies of exactly what your fiance filed with the IRS and must also include W2 forms. (Most people keep a copy of those in their records.) W2s are statements sent from employers telling your whole year's wages that you mail in with your tax form. The embassy needs those to verify the income because you could fake up a tax return and put in any wages you wanted. We used a copy of my tax return that I printed off TurboTax, along with my W2 statements and that was fine with London. So tax return or tax transcripts are acceptable, but transcripts are the more official because they are verified by the IRS as correct.

Just wanted to clear up the difference in the tax forms. Hope you get something soon.

Photocopies are fine for the tax forms.

So in other words, tax returns are useless without the relevant W2 forms? Oh fantastic. Absolutely ###### fantastic. Does this ###### #### ever end!!????:angry::angry:

That is correct, but the instructions for the Affidavit of Support state that you need tax returns with W2s. It's part of a whole tax return. My whole return included form 1040, Schedule B, Schedule D, and statements W2 (wages) and 1099-R (pension money).

Everybody will have a slightly different return. I have investments and capital gains, so that's why I have a Schedule D. I get a payment shown on a 1099-R because my husband died. Anybody who works at a job for wages will get a W2 for each job. Some people are eligible to file a shorter form 1040A or 1040EZ. Some people are self employed and have additional Schedules. You can't make a list that will apply to every person, so they say your complete return including all schedules and W2s as a one-size fits all statement.

A transcript from the IRS covers all forms, schedules, W2s...everything. The only reason I could not send in a transcipt is because they wrote me that mine would not be available until November 2008. That makes me think they may be going to audit my return and aren't done with it yet. A transcript means...complete, done, verified, approved, Amen.

Thanks Nich, but those other odds and sods are gonna have to wait now. I'm just going to turn up as scheduled, present what I have, and presumably get the standard, "you're apporoved pending receipt of the W2s" response. And trust me, it's gonna have to be that way, because there's no way in hell 'er indoors will get around to ordering #### from the IRS!!! Poor mare is already totally baffled by it all.

Damian. When W2s come to your house in January, there are normally about 3-4 copies that tear apart. One is for the IRS, one is for state income tax if your state has it, one is for your personal records. Ask her if she can find a spare one of those lying around with tax stuff. Hmmm....guess she doesn't file things probably. Anyway, she can just scan and email or fax it to you. Mine were not originals.

Here's hoping she might can find her W2. Tell her it comes from her employer and has their name on it. It comes at the end of January to be used for filing taxes. Cheers!

Oh it's not that Nich - she files that stuff away and knows what a W2 is - it's just that, to be completely fair to her, she works all the hours God sends (at least 10 hours a day, minimum 5-days-a-week) on a factory floor. She gets very little time off to sort this stuff, let alone go to the post office. Add the fact that our co-sponsor is her incredibly reclusive, nigh on impossible to contact brother (who also works to live) and you can see the issues here!

She'll post the W2s the day I have my interview, and I'll forward them on to London just as soon as I get them. Thankfully, I'm in no rush to leave (not planning on doing so until March).

And on that note..............outta here for the day!
