Hi,

My fiancée will be moving to USA when our K1 is approved sometime early in 2009.

We will apply for Advanced Parole so we can travel back to her home in Republic of Moldova.

I would like to take her to some of my favorite western European cities, but she will have only her Moldova passport with a USA visa.

What is involved in getting visa for travel to western Europe, something she can not do now with her Moldova passport?

Cheers,

Scott

No point in applying for AP before you file AOS. Don't know if that's what you meant. It takes around 3 months to get AP, so its a waste of $$ to file before you are married and file AP. Same thing with EAD.

Hi,

You are correct, we plan on getting married shortly after she arrives in USA, and apply for AOS, and AP as soon as possible.

If we plan on traveling to other countries besides her home country, how or what do we need to do with her passport / visas here in USA?

She will need a visa in her Moldova passport for travel to western Europe, something she cannot get now in Moldova….they figure their citizens would never return to Moldova if they were to get out.

Cheers,

Scott

Any countries she would have needed a visa for before the K1, she would still need a visa for - even further down the road when she has a Green Card (same thing). Not until citizenship would the travel 'rules/restrictions' be different. Advance Parole (as you may already know) is a re-entry (into the US) document only.

From what I understand - visas for EU countries (for example) are nearly impossible to get for Moldova Citizens. If this is really the case, there's not much you can do am afraid.

Yes, she would still travel with her Moldavian passport and require the necessary visas to enter other countries. She requires the AP to return to the US.

You may wish to contact the Embassies or Consulates in the US of the countries you are interested in visiting. It could be that since she is in the process of acquiring permission to live permanently in the US they would be more willing to issue her a visitor's visa, especially as she would be travelling in the company of her American husband - another tie to the US rather than to Moldavia. It's worth a try.
