Hmm...Yeah, sure you can. What are their incomes? Most I know had to get a job outside of their career in a minimum wage restaurant. Also, the Museum Curator at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts makes a measly 15k with a Master of Fine Arts.

The video gaming industry surpassed the movie industry years ago and I believe it's over 9 billion annually. That's just one slice of the entertainment industry, which is only one part of the Arts.

ROFL.

Video Games industries requires more CIS major (computer information science) than artists.

Consolemaster, why do you always seem to equate good job with high income? Not everyone can or should be an engineer. Besides, with all the outsourcing of engineers to such fine countries as India, who's to say engineering is the ticket of the future? Somebody has to serve-up my burgers and repair my car.

watch out brother bj...old brother c'master pull out his slide rule on you

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

ROFL. Nah. I think I'll use my more accurate TI-89 calculator instead of the inaccurate slide rule. I think I'll miss with the slide rule.

Anyway, the reason for this is that the US is severely lacking engineers. All the skilled laborers are coming from overseas. This not only include Engineers but Doctors, etc...

These skilled workers come from countries that lack resources to do research on new technology. They came here to focus on just that. Making life better for everyone. However, it's an embarrasment for the US as a whole for their unlimited resource and they only have mediocre graduates. I find it ridiculous that parents are always saying the US is bad in education when it's truly their fault for making it that way by instituting public policy that are divided by State, Regional, and City Levels. Where's the inspiration in advancement? Nothing.

Just stand in front of my HAL 9000. You won't even have to speak- just move your lips and I'll be able to read you.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Consolemaster has a point though - even if there is more to life than science, engineering and a high wage, there should be more home grown students who are interested and capable within these fields.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I'm flabbergasted that someone actually believes there is no value in learning the Arts.

Seriously. I'm shocked. Perhaps majoring in the Arts won't lead to a lucrative career (finance-wise) but in truth there are people who value things more than money. As well, how can one appreciate anything in life if they have no appreciation for art or music? Just my humble opinion, but as an educator, I feel very strongly that arts education is important. I've seen its value with students first-hand. In fact, students who play a musical instrument or sing, for example, regularly score higher on math and science assessment tests.

Weird, huh?

Enjoy art or actively pursuing a career in art doesn't mean you don't live in reality.

Sincerely,

Arts educator and a mom of an honors student who also happens to be an accomplished musician, and wife of a brilliant software engineer who also plays 3 musical instruments.....

LOL...if you can fit it around that, then brother, you've got a more serious problem than not being invited to lesbian weddings.
