Hi, everybody!

Had difficulty in finding someone adjusting from J-1 visa . glad i found you :-)

i have a question. i entered U.S. as a J-1 visa holder with no actual intention of getting married. But we did get married after all :-) and it`s been 3 months now but we haven`t sent AOS package yet. I`m waiting to get my medical records from Russia for the medical exam. Does it matter how long we wait before applying for the GC? Does it affect the process in any way? and do i really need my medical records for the medical exam?

pls, give me some advice. i`m just all mixed up about the things we need to do. Can i apply for EAD after all this time? i read somewhere you can only do it within 90 days of ur arrival or smth like that...

i would appreciate any help!!!

зачем ты ждешь свою медицинскую карту из россии если все прививки можно сделать сдесь дешевле и быстрее?

у меня все заняло неделю.

не тяни резину - чем бысрее подашь, тем быстее получишь!

Hi J-1 Guys.

So my interview went good and bad. However, I did pass I guess. I got to the place around 20 minutes early. I waited until thirty minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Then I was finally called. My husband and I followed our adjudicator through to his office and he made us raise our right hand and swear to tell the truth. We then gave our passports and some documents for photocopying. He asked the questions like had I ever been convicted of a felony etc. He copied the things and that was fine. The problem I had was that the doctor had not completed the medical correctly and USCIS had thrown away my father in laws copy of his tax return. My husband and father in law have the same first name and they thought it was a duplicate copy. What I have to do is obtain another copy of his tax return and get the doctor to fix his paper work and return it on Friday and then everything will be fine.

I produced a few copies of things that prove we have a relationship but he didn't look at many things and didn't look at any photos. So it was very quick and painless.

Good luck!

Key K-star! The same thing happend to me with my medical exam. The Civil surgeon filled out wrong my medical vaccines. I got an RFE after 6 months of waith for my AP and EAD beacsue of the medical exam. I went straight to the Healt Center and told them that I needed them to give me a medical exam that was filed out right (since I did get all the vaccines ad everything that tey require). They were very helpfull and gave me a new medical exam (that is the elast they can do since my paperwork has been delayed big time because they did not do their job correctly).

How stupid of them to through out your inlaws tax return!!! Hope you getting everything in order and thanks for the update!

Hi everybody,

I had a J1 visa too. I was an au pair. But am I the only one with a 2year extension program? That worries me a little because I didn't have another visa for my second year. I only had a DS 2019 renewed. That's what they give anyway. But still... I didn't have a visa. And my husband and I got married during my travel month so during the 25th month, one week before flying back to France for good. I think we took the right decisision though because when I see how long the K1 visa would have taken...

So now we are filling out the application. Got married on the 29th of november 2008. It is taking too long. I wish we could mail it as soon as possible. It worries me. But we are still missing some things. Especially the translation of the criminal record.

How did you guys make it? Did you have it translated by a certified translator? or yourself? I want to do it myself so that I don't have to pay something. But I want to be sure of what I write. And also my husband is still looking for a job so it's hard right now.
