Hi guys

Let me fill you in with my problem and then you can chip in. To cut a long story short I visited my then boyfriend in Minnesota back in noveber 07. We finished based on no trust but stayed friends. Too complicated to go into.

It just so happen that I met my new love (fiance) in the same state of where ex boyfriend is. My fiance knows about him. We got serious and he applied K1 for me. It's a first time K1.

So when I entered Minneapolis POE in november, I was visiting the ex boyfriend but I was vague and told the immigration officer I was visiting friends simply because I didn't want her to know our problems. She pressed for more info about my trip. I gave up and told her I lied and that i was really here to see the ex boyfriend (in november). She let me in as she was understanding. Am VERY grateful for that.

Now my life has turned around for the best and met my wonderful fiance. I went to visit him in July this year and I saw the same officer again at the Minneapolis POE but this time told her that I was seeing someone else. She remembered who I was here to see the last time. She asked more info on my fiance and told her everything including that we were awaiting NOA2. She still believed I was here to see the ex for some reason. I told her no! But, I actually did see the ex briefly but my fiance knew about it. It was just to tell him that I was getting married to my new love who is in the same state!! I didn't think that was important to mention. The POE officer checked it out, came back and told me that I did infact see the ex. Did she call him or was she calling my bluff??? She got what she wanted either way, anyway, after lying to her a 2nd time she left the room and left it for another officer to deal with. The officer let me be on my way after we had a long conversation about my fiance.

We have now been approved and awaiting K1 interview date which will be soon. My question is am I red flagged because I lied twice to an officer? Even before letting me enter on both occasion?? Would I be red flagged either way? This is really worrying my fiance and I. Any thoughts? And please dont get snipey or clever. If you have useful feedback about my situation I would love to hear it.

Hi

Your situation sounded complicated at first but it really isint. The K1 visa interview can be stressful but if you are straightforward and have all your documents with you you should be Ok. In my experience i was called for a second time and interviewed seperately mainly because the imm officer was in a bad mood and didnt really care about what we said. But she was wonderful in the second interview. Make sure you tell them how much you love each other and dont be shy and hesitate in saying you love each other. As far as not telling them about the POE incident. The USCIS has a computerised system so everything is linked to your file, If the immigration officer entered some notes on your visa file at the POE it will show up during the interview. Prepare for the answer and questions she might ask you. DO NOT LIE or change your story.. be honest. Sometimes they will tell you we know you are not telling us the truth, we got a call from your ex. or another department its just to judge your reaction. If you areally love each other you will have no problems. Most importantly, DO NOT give out any information you are not asked. eg: if asked were you checked by immigration upon POE. your answer should be Yes at (your POE) this is to see weather you entered legally or not.. dont go into how the officer claled naother officer etc... but be cool its all goign to work out great. Best of luck ...

PS: if there was a serious issue with your immigration you would not have made it thru the POE .. so since you are in the US and made it thru relax... you will be fine

Just to clarify my response - am not so certain you'd be red-flagged at a US border/POE. I seriously doubt there will be ramifications on your petition and/or interview.
