Im a bit confused, I highlighted the form I864. This is the form that your sponsor fills out. Form I693 is the form that the surgeon signs for the medical completion.

Did your spouse (petitioner) or in case you have co-sponsor fill out the form as well as submitting all the tax returns?

I posted this on the "new members" forum, but thought I would post it here too, on this message thread:

Hi Twilighter,

Welcome to VJ, Twilighter! Hope you find it especially helpful to you too, as the "immigration process" can be overwhelming at times. And well, without the friendly and helpful community of VJ, one would simply be lost in this complicated, long, and somewhat frustrating at times, immigration process....

Don't worry, take it one step at a time, read the information on VJ, and you'll be ok there and as you continue to read, you'll learn and know more, indeed!

The other piece of advice I would suggest is: :time: , often, as that definitely helps here on VJ!

Nice to meet another fellow Canadian and New York Stater (wow, what a double co-incidence like me!) too! If you don't mind me asking, which part of Canada were you from before, and which part of New York State are you in now (I assume Buffalo and area as that's what you state as your local office in your profile)? Likewise, I used to live in Canada too, and have moved here to New York State, which is close to the border too. "Canadians are so close", (lol..."Yet so far" at times...). Funny, I moved only a few hours and a few hundred kms/miles away from Canada to the USA, and yet, I have to go through the process of "immigration", sigh....

Hope this helps Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey, too!

Hi Twilighter,

This is the information from my VJ timeline for my AOS that I did about 2 years ago, so you can compare it to yours to see what to expect next for your recent case too:

Adjustment of Status

Also had the help of a good immigration lawyer on this 'unusual' case. Did not apply for EAD or AP. Filed all the completed paperwork a few months later than expected, due co-sponsor issues. The AOS interview only took about 15-20 minutes. Quick and simple, as the Immigration Officer only asked Ant and D a few questions and they showed them the required listed evidence. The case was approved and Ant's passport was stamped with a temporary I-551 stamp. Ant's 2yr US I-551 Conditional Green-white Card arrived quickly by USPS, 1 week later. Ant's SSN Received 2007-01, delayed due to immigration status verification. Ant's US 5yr Driver's License Received 2007-01, quickly due to direct no-testing transfer of former Canadian Driver's License. Chapter 3 Timeline: 7-9 Months.

Hope this helps. Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too!

Ant

P.S. By the way, the I-693 is the medical forms, and the I-864 is the sponsor forms, just to clarify you on that point.

I didnt know you can just go to your USCIS office and they would assit you on the paperwork that is cool. How did you package everything? Good luck once again and have a good weekend. I will definately ask more questions if they come up.

Im in Toronto right now, and will visit as much of the city as possible for everybody and anybody who wants it! heheh..

Funny story, I came in on greyhound and stopped in customs, the guy asked me where i was from etc, and I told him id been here since August and all he said was "welcome home" I love the Canadian customs, they are always so nice, never give a hard time...I am however worried for when I head back to Columbus to back to visit my SO...Ive spent quite a bit of time in the US this year...keeping my fingers crossed!
