As a petitioner you can be with your fiance's side, but its best to email consulate and take permission from them, so if the guard tries to stop you, you can show the return email.

As a USC, you have a right to enter the consulate. You show them your passport and they will not stop you. Whether you can be present at the interview will depend on the CO. In theory, the Consulates should encourage both parties being present coz that helps better to determine if the relationship is bonafide (as told to us by the DOS). Daniel was in the waiting lounge while I went to the counter for my interview, but the fact that he was there helped a lot coz they gave me a 221g for not submitting enough evidence (I had a signed receipt from VFS saying they received all docs that the CO was saying I did not submit). CO did not think it was necessary to answer my questions coz I was the 'alien fiancee'. Daniel raised hell and they actually reversed the 221g and took it back. I got my visa the next day. So just be there whether they let you be with the beneficiary or not. All the best to both of you
