I probably shouldn't bring it up but, in the light of a terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist, in the area of ending long standing problems, sometimes a terrorist becomes a former terrorist and even Paisley, the old goat, seems to have come around to that idea.

The Right has virtually forgotten about Ayers, about the Murrah building and other domestic acts of terrorism. They have a new 'poster child' now and it's anybody of Middle Eastern descent or appearance. They've only raised the spectre of Ayers because it suited their agenda.

imagine that. we've had problems in the uk with the ira in the past but that was usually kept quiet then referring to more recent terrorism issues. it is all about agenda.

My husband is from Londonderry. I'm familiar with the effects of domestic terrorism - I live with the fallout everyday.

Didn't Paisley retire recently? I seem to remember his son stepping in or something.

In many ways, this is true. Interesting Londonderry not 'Derry and yet not a fan of Paisley :)

I wouldn't be surprised, he has to be in his middle/late 70's by now.

I'm not a fan of Paisley because of what I've learned from my Irish-Protestant husband. In his opinion, Paisley was a self-promoting, bible-thumping hate monger.

Not every resident of NI who would call themselves a British Citizen would align themselves with Loyalist extremists. And that's what Paisley represented.

I know RJ, sorry, I guess this is not something to mess with. I shall cease and desist. I lived there a long time, but I was always 'the outsider' and as one one can observe much, without every really knowing what it is to be an insider. It's a lovely place, and I am glad it is changing, albeit very, very slowly.

Oh, it's no biggie. Really.

It's not like Wes wakes up in the middle of the night with PTSD cold sweats. But I've lived with him long enough to know that part of his 'pleaser' personality is Troubles-borne. He doesn't like to 'make waves' and he keeps his head down.

He got a little nervous one time when I took him to the Knights of Columbus for a fish-fry, though......... :P

Noted. Have you visited much? I haven't been back for about 5 years - for personal reasons not because I hate the place. I miss some things, but in other ways, I am very glad to have left. Odd but there you go.

It'll be 3 1/2 years at that point. Way long enough.

I'm wondering if he could even produce a Birth Cert?

Hell, you would think that thing was a classified Document, the way it has been hidden.

Cool, march can be brisk though, pack your woolies! Of course, I am not sure what part of the country you hail from, so anything might be warmer than where you are. :) The places I miss most are coastal really, the Glens of Antrim, The Giant's Causeway coast - seeing Scotland (well the islands) as clear as day because there is so little polution on one of those crystal clear sunny days and the most spectacular golden sands beaches. Dunluce, Bishop's Gate and trips to Donnegal. I'll go back some day, just not soon.
