Obama could not get a National Security Clearance if you or I

I've pondered this question myself and mentioned it here in these forums. I see that it's now being asked by others....

I would like to see how he answered the question about terrorists, and associations. In fact, I would like to know if he disclosed it at all! Assuming he did, and given he's changed the characterization of his relationship from "just a guy in the neighborhood" to now an admission that his political career was launched in Ayers livingroom, what exactly he said on the application.....

Distorting any information on the application is grounds for denial, or if found later a cancellation or downgrading of ones Security Classification. I, and others are held to these satndards and there's no wiggle room. These rules are strictly enforced.

How in the world did Obama pass his clearance interview given his radical associations? Did he lie, or is this just another "pass" by sympathetic followers. You know, like Kennedy got away with manslauter......

This video my favorite on this subject, followed by a couple of others that wonder aloud the same thing...HOW and WHY does he have a Security Clearance?

There are more on the subject but I think this is a leigimate question to be asked.......

kaydee457,

Maybe you don't know so much about the security clearance process. I know only a little. The FBI doesn't refuse clearances simply on basis of tenuous guilt-by-association issues. I am aware of a fine nuclear scientist, solid Republican, contrary sort of guy (he was also a member of the ACLU) who had relatives who were socialists and communists. Literally. Card-carrying members of the Communist Party. This guy got a pretty high up security clearances -- I never knew what he worked on really -- although the FBI did take a good long time to investigate this guy and his background.

I do know that when he retired, he had a great deal of respect from fellow scientists and managers at Los Alamos for work that he had done with nuclear weapons.

The FBI didn't screw up in giving this guy clearances the way they did with, say, Oliver North, who treasonously traded arms with an enemy of the USA to fund illegal wars that Reagan wanted to run over the objections of Congress.

Excellent response, sir.

The FBI isn't exactly stupid in investigating real threats to the domestic security of the USA. Linking Ayers and Obama is nothing more than stupid, dirty politics and its no surprise Kaydee is citing Fox News 'questions' as something to be actually taken seriously.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

you're absolutely right - you don't know much about security clearances - the fbi does not grant security clearances.

Weeeeeell Charles... good catch. The FBI handles incoming applications for them from law enforcement as well as politicians.

Military secret clearance is something else.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

investigating someone and granting the clearance is two different things, as you know. he was even lumping ltc north into that fbi clearance bit.

Don't be silly, Ayers is a known terrorist - Obama is disqualified because he didn't disclose this 'connection'. Time will tell...
