Traveling while awaiting interview

Hey Guys,

I guess no news is NOT good news. I keep calling to see if interviews are being scheduled for November, but nothing yet until after next week. The only strange thing is that the automated system says they have no record of my case number, but the live operators say its complete and that it must be a glitch.

Since it looks like I might be getting ready for another long wait, I was wondering whether my hubby can come visit on his B2 while waiting for the interview. I don't want to risk him being turned back now that we've come this far. He visited in August, right around the time we got NO2.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Karin

Hi Karin -

I have seen stories of successful visits, I have seen stories of not so successful trips - I don't think anyone can predict whether it is okay or not - it's the luck of the draw and the mood of the immigration officer on that day.

I know. Its so hard to judge, but its harder for me to visit. He has more time off from work, but the relationship needs tending to after a three month separation. I guess I'll have to pay the money and go. Some things are priceless.

How do you keep the relationship going with so many stressors/obstacles???

I know it can be really hard sometimes. My SO and I were separated for 5 years and he didn't have a visitors visa. He got denied twice. So I always had to travel down there. It's definitely hard..all I can say is stick to it. And be understanding to him and ask that he be understanding of you with the long distance thing.

Karin, I know exactly what you mean - it's tough to be apart, and be grateful that you do have the visitor's visa (and thankful that you don't have my SO who loses his cell phone every other month :girlwerewolf2xn: )

You have to have faith and hang in there - At least the end is somewhat in sight for you, and you will get through - Check the flights, maybe you can swing a weekend down there? I know it's a chaotic thought - but better a couple days than none -

Thanks for the support. Miscommunication is a hell of a thing when you are in a LDR. On top of that, I have my cousins in my ear telling me that if he isn't a battie man, him mus ave oman down there. :):secret:

This board really helps keep me going. In this time of belt tightening, it seems hard to drop over $800 a trip on air and two or three night's hotel. Nine times out of ten, I do the air and hotel package because it seems a shame not to add on, but next trip might very well be spent in the country at his house. I plan to write reviews of all the hotels we've visited since starting this process...The good, the bad and the hugly.

LDRs are also super expensive. I made the mistake of reviewing my credit card bills and estimated that I spent average of $200 a month on phone cards.

I buy the verizon ones at Costco and keep filling them back up, but they just started charging for reuse, so I have to find another option!

Are you guys going down for a visit soon? It would be cool to have a Yardie reunion.

Never, never never add up the money you spent!:bonk: You'll drive yourself nuts!

I am going down the day after Christmas - but there's a hold thread in this section with everyone's travel dates! I hear you on the spending money - but sometimes, you have to just suck up and do it because your relationship needs the attention.

I'd find the cheapest tickets I could and stay with him.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Thanks for all the advice and support.

I'm thinking beginning of November I'll steal some time and go see him. Phone sex can only do so much.

Wow! I feel bad for complaining about my situation. How has your SO adapted to life here? My hubby is leaving a relatively decent job and is scared about finding another one here, especially in this economic downturn.

Okay. I booked it. Oct. 31-Nov. 3 (Gotta come back for the big vote!)

I got a hella deal on Farecast.com. $352 roundtrip, nonstop. They must have heard my whining about the cost.

Now let's see if my ex or my mom will babysit.
