Can you guys share your Packet 3 experiences in this thread please? Im concerned about whether or not I goofed up and didnt realize that I am supposed to contact the embassy in Buenos Aires and actually request the packet 3 for my beneficiary?

On April 6th I recieved a letter from the bureau of Consular Affairs.

It says that the letter is to let me know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa issuing post where the visa interview will take place.

Then it gives my INS Receipt Number, and the Case Number and the address of the Consulate at which the case will be processed.

In the last paragraph it states:

Your fiance will soon recieve a packet with instructions from the consular section at thispost on how to apply for the K1 visa at that post and what documents will be required.

In another thread someone has told me that they had to actually email and call the consulate that would handle their case and ASK them to send the Packet 3. This really surprised me when I heard this news. Has anyone (or everyone) had to do this??

The Embbasy suppose to send the packet 3 after receiving your case. Foar situation if you have waited too long and received nothing.. You should contact the embassy to check on status....

For my case, I just can't wait, I communicate with my Embassy and they allow me to pick-up my Packet 3 from the Embassy Service counter.

Oh wow thats great, to be able to just go and pick it up instead of waiting for them to get around to sending it.

Please, you need to make arrangement with the consular before you go... please call or email them before you go if is alright to self-collect the packet 3 from the Embassy... Additionally, every Embassy work a little different, please do double check..

Well..........................If I were you I would have already sent an email to the local

American Consulate/Embassy to tell them that on the 6th of April you got the letter

from NVC confirmning that they sent to them (the local Embassy) your petition, so kindly

ask them (the local Embassy) to send you the documents to fill out?

I tell you that because I did that recently to my local embassy, and the day after they sent me by email

package3, if I didnt do it probably I was waiting (still) the Package3 by regular mail........do it right now dont waste your time, because the more you wait the more you have to wait for the interview.......this is my advice, because I did it and it worked. Now I sent already back what I was supposed to, and I'm waiting for the interview date from them, if within 1 week I dont hear from them, I will send them again another email asking for the interview date.

Good luck!!!!!

Ok I will do that. I can imagine if I show up there without warning it would be a hassle and very annoying for them and I certainly dont want to get on their bad side. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Daphne. THANK HEAVENS FOR THIS FORUM. It is amazing how lost I would be without all of this help. Tomorrow, actually TODAY is memorial day.........hmmmm

Sorry for confusion......I am the petitioner. Im from the USA. Daphne did you mean that I should call the local Argentinian Embassy here in the USA? Or that my fiance the beneficiary, to call the American Embassy in Buenos Aires? The interview will be taking place at the embassy in Argentina. Again sorry for the confusion.

Your fiance should contact the US consulate in Argentina. The Argentinian Embassy in the US isn't involved in the process at all.

The initial mystery that attends any journey is: how did the traveller reach his starting point in the first place?

Received NOA2 on May 4th, I called the NVC on May 22 to find out what my status was - NVC said they had just received our petition.

Still waiting... no touches, we haven't even received the notice that it got to the NVC.

The beneficiary in Argentina must call /or send an email to the American Embassy in Buenos Aires,.

I'm the beneficiary so I sent an email to the local American Embassy where I will have the interview here in Italy, so it is better the beneficiary to doso to the local embassy where the interview will be taken,.

Unless you want to call from USA the Consulate in Buenos Aires asking about the status of the petition, I mean if they receied it from NVC in Buoenos Aires....I hope to have been clear.......

If u r unsure send me a PM to my address ok?

I wish you good luck, and do it tomorrow first thing in the morning!!!!Too bad is holiday today.

Good luck!!!!

Hi Robert,

it's Daphne again, now I read yr timeline, and I understood better your names related to petitioner and beneficiary. Maria should contact the Embassy in Buenos Aires sending an email, or calling them (I suggest to send an email) if they are fast like here in Italy, probably she should get her Package3 by email the day after, if after 1 day she doesnt get any reply, then I would contact them by telephone.

Best wishes, daphne
