New driver's license rule upsets some (illegal) immigrants

I'd like to comment on the Texas provision.

I think it is discriminatory to give legal residents a different-looking driver license, marked "TEMPORARY VISITOR" especially when you are a legal PERMANENT resident! However I do agree with tying the issue of a driver license to legal rights to reside here.

I think what they could do is to issue a driver license that has the same expiration as your legal rights to stay, but without marking that in a different spot or with the stupid "TEMPORARY VISITOR" notation.. Also, the shape of the driver license should be the same. My driver license has the full legal validity, but since I hadn't received my green card yet when I got it, my temporary visitor status expires 1 year from my entry with IR-1 visa..

Until someone receives their unconditional PR, yes their ID should be marked. This is not an unreasonable measure.

Yeah we have this new law implemented in NC also and I was told by DMV peeps it has Rocked the Illegal community.

I think to many people are only focused on the Driving privilege which comes with a DL.

IN the USA a simple DL does what a pass port does in other countries.

With a DL you can do almost anything including purchasing all kinds of high powered rifles and Handguns.

Without a DL, if a person is stopped, at minimum they are ticketed, Illegals naturally fail to appear and now

he has escalated from a simple fine to having a warrant out. Once they are finger printed, they can not claim another name on a second arrest. The system is nation wide now and instant.

I applied for a handgun permit a few weeks ago, they had me completely done in an hour, where it used to take a week or two.

In my city every person who is processed in the Jail will have their status examined and despite what you hear, they are being deported as their offense status elevates.

What you don't hear about is how many Hispanic citizens are more than happy to see illegals shipped out, after all, whose ID do you think these Illegals are stealing......Not the "john Brown" sounding names.

As the net starts to close, these "Sanctuary Cities" are going to be popular places.
