Our estimated adjudication date on the VJ timeline has just moved closer....now it says

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, it has moved many times for many people. There was a post I had read recently that described it like a roller coaster. The OP concluded by saying that they ended up receiving NOA2 slightly prior to the original estimate.

Looking over IGOR and recent posts, it seems as though July filers are beginning to be adjudicated. Sometime between the end of Feb and the beginning of March sounds like a fair estimate for yours. And that would also put mine almost dead on.

Let's wait and see. .

hi,just wondering?why you need vaccination??

thank you

Popping in to see how the October Filers are doing.

Congrats on all the NOA1s... just remember, a few months of waiting and then you'll be busy preparing for the big interview and move! Some could call the preperation exciting..

I've been really bad lately with being prepared for the next step. I did want to send off for my police certificate but it asks for more passport photos that need signing and I also have to travel to another town to get my vaccine information. We spent so long getting the petition ready and making sure everything is ready that I can't be bothered to do any more paperwork! But it's what we have to do.. this week, I will accomplish!!

Good luck!

All emigrants to America must receive required vaccinations at some point. For the K-1 Visa, it can be done in their home country before coming over or in America before applying for Adjustment of Status (AOS).

There are lists available from USCIS's website as well as local consulates' websites.

My fiancee just informed me that she is able to get vaccinated for free in her home country, so I am encouraging her to get them in the next few months before her interview. One less thing to do once she gets here.

Luckily I can get most of mine free except the controversial HPV vaccine. It's the biggest waste of money, even my nurse said that.

I am not certain of your age Laura, but women over 26 are not required to get HPV vaccine.

I would not necessarily call it worthless. I thought there is substantial evidence to prove that HPV infection can lead to cervical cancer. If the vaccine does prevent HPV, subsequently lowering the incidence of cervical cancer, I am all for it!

I am 24 so I do have to have it. The National Health Service site states that the HPV vaccination is designed for girls aged 12-18 before they become sexually active. They state that it is not cost effective giving it to somone in their 20's as it will offer no protection at all unless you've never had sex. My nurse confirmed this and was suprised that I had been told I had to have it. She then told me the cost as, due to my age of course, I can't receive it for free under the NHS. Equiv of $200 a shot and three shots are required for it to be fully effective. In reality you only need to get the first shot for AOS purposes so unless you fork out for the next two shots you never will be fully 'protected'.

I presume it's most effective prior to being sexually active, so that one is inoculated before exposure. Since the likelihood is that you are only going to be with one partner from now on and either have already been exposed or not, then there is no point in getting it. I got you now.

Perhaps Tom can find out if it would be cheaper to obtain here in America.

He's going to check when he gets back to the US in February. I've heard that you can get it cheaper but not sure whereabouts.

Who should get the HPV vaccine

The HPV vaccine is recommended for 11 and 12 year-old girls. It is also recommended for girls and women age 13 through 26 years of age who have not yet been vaccinated or completed the vaccine series.

Will sexually active females benefit from the vaccine?

Ideally females should get the vaccine before they become sexually active, when they may be exposed to HPV. Females who are sexually active may also benefit from the vaccine, but they may get less benefit from it. This is because they may have already gotten an HPV type targeted by the vaccine. Few sexually active young women are infected with all HPV types covered by the vaccine so they would still get protection from those types they have not yet gotten. Currently, there is no test available to tell if a girl/woman has had HPV in the past, or which types.

Cost and Paying for the HPV vaccine

The retail price of the vaccine is about $125 per dose ($375 for full series).

Is the HPV vaccine covered by insurance plans?

While some insurance companies may cover the vaccine, others may not. Most large insurance plans usually cover the costs of recommended vaccines.

I thought this might be useful. It came from the uscis website.

Do not attempt to obtain the vaccinations before the medical exam with the civil surgeon. During your examination with the civil surgeon, he or she will review your vaccination history, and may determine that certain vaccinations are not necessary or not appropriate.
