Congrats!!! I am about to take Balvino to his ESL class. I told him last night he needs to talk more. That is great Josue is jumping in with two feet. Balvino is doing well it takes time. I am so glad that I will have a buddy with the AOS process. I have put it on hold until I get back from NYC plus the wedding has taken over my brain at the moment.

Glad things went well!!

Things have gone extremely smooth through this whole process, so much so that I'm scared something wrong is going to happen very soon! He met my mom yesterday and that went well, my brother showed some videos he had transferred onto the computer of me when I was little and Josue liked those. We are going to see my dad next weekend, and he is learning a little bit of Spanish so hopefully that will go well also.

I have some translation work to do for Friday, but then we will be doing the paperwork for the AOS. We are also waiting for the official copy of the marriage license which I imagine should arrive by next week sometime. When are you going to NYC?

I know the feeling. Balvino and I had such a great experience with the transition that I was waiting for something to go wrong. My Brother told me I had a bad attitude:)

I am glad things are going well. You deserve it.

We are heading to NYC today for about 5 days. Balvino is very excited and my friends are dying to meet him...I hope they behave themselves. There is a new restaurant in the LES that is run by a Nicaraguan women. The menu looks great so I am hoping to go tonight.

I have a friend here in Boston that has offered to translate Balvino's birth certificate. Can he translate the document and then get it notarized or should I use a professional service...any suggestions? I am looking forward to getting the paperwork done.

Good Luck Lovesponge!!!! Keep us posted.

Thanks to all who congratulated us! We are very happy to *finally* be together!

Karen, have fun in NYC! That restaurant sounds great - hope it's authentic!

From what I understand, translating doesn't have to be professional. It just has to say the spiel "I am competent of _________language and English, etc." it's here on VJ, just VJ google translation and it should come up. I plan on translating Josue's BC.

That's one thing to suggest to those who are soon going for interview/POE - make sure you get an extra copy of your BC before you come back here so you won't have to pay to get it shipped when you are ready to file AOS. At our interview, they kept the copy Josue had, so we had to go get another one. Fortunately, it's a 15 minute and about $.75 process, so it wasn't that big of a deal.

Hi Everyone! i miss reading some posts here in VJ specially this october thread....i've been very busy since i arrived here in Maryland and got married last April 16 in the courthouse in annapolis MD. It was a very simple one we just had lunch at red lobster after the ceremony wherein it was only me and my husband, my parents, his parents, and my sister in law with the boyfriend. Then the weekend after that we had a small party in our house wherein we invited our Filipino friends and family members who live nearby. We and my parents have been traveling around the area..I already took them to Washington DC and Baltimore Inner harbor, and right now i am in Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City and then spending the a week in NJ,NYC and Boston...A week left then my hubby will be back to work after his almost 3 week vacation for our wedding =)

I hope everyone is almost done with the interview and stuff...after the vacation i will then file my AOS and another journey of paper works hahaha

It is exciting to see a lot of people moving forward. What is the word. Are there still a few waiting that post here or have most heard news of some sort? NYC is fun I am sad to move out of my Apt but I like change and Boston is best for us now. Chelsea you called me 'Karen' I do have a slightly unusual 'K' name I get Kristin a lot actually. I found a dress and Balvino has a great suit so we can return with mission accomplished on the shopping :P

I hope all is well. Back to work n the AOS once I return. Thanks for the advice Chelsea I am sure I will have more questions....Yes copies of everything helps!!

My fiancée has found a new pastime; wedding planning. She's so far gotten the wedding attire, floral arrangements, gifts to the guests, her hair style, and part of the reception menu. I give her credit because she is balancing several responsibilities now and still enjoying every moment of this planning. As a bit of a surprise to her, my brother-in-law and I are going to play some guitar as well. He was my first teacher and we've learned to play well together. Sing a couple of sweet songs for her, and some live entertainment for the guests.

If only this interview were scheduled for this coming month, our plans might fall right in place.

That sounds really sweet! Do you have any idea when the interview will be?

We are waiting and hoping ... no real idea how much time we are looking at. Home stretch! no matter how long it gets...

I finally have an apartment, pending a credit check. It's a lovely two bed apartment built this year. So new there are no carpets down yet!

Getting used to being single. Though at the moment I see no difference between being in a long distance relationship and being single. We still chat a bit, I go to bed alone and wake up alone. The only difference is there are no I love yous. Am back at work tomorrow after a week off so I am going to have to start all over again with the Tom and I are no longer together...
