Not sure how many of you have dug really deep into this site, but I stumbled upon this older VJ link from a former USCIS adjudicator who describes the process from the inside. If you haven't read it yet - its a bit illuminating. The fact that he also went through to process is also a bit reassuring as we all settle in for the long wait.

Enjoy.

Great find!!! Thanks for that!

How come you would expect a touch a week?? My expectations were quite different. Knowing that my file is waiting on a shelf in a box full of other petitions and that the likelihood is that an adjudicator won't get around to processing my petition for another four months, I figured I won't see a touch till February or so.

That is precisely why I said earlier that I shall not check the USCIS website for another few months. There's nothing to see until early next year. One can keep going every day, hoping to see a touch, wishing that somehow one's petition is going to be processed faster, etc. But all that seems like a fair amount of impatience. Generally impatience results in frustration at not getting what one wants.

Serenity is a consequence of acceptance. Next year, some time, it'll happen.

LOL I don't REALLY expect a touch a week! I was just saying that cause I check everyday...just in case! I know nothing will move before a couple a months, but I am expecting a RFE.

So don't worry about me! I'm not going crazy and I am patiently waiting for things to move!

UPS with confirmation. Thanks for the next step. In the interim I've redone all I'm paperwork that requires original signatures and sending it to Jeremy today probably after work...lol well this just sucks. Guess it's safe to say I'm no longer an October filer!

Just curious how you made out with tracking down your package.

I think it would be nice to get to know some of the people in this thread, if you don't mind of course. You don't have to give names if you don't want. Things like what you do for a living and what you like to, how you met and what you are doing to pass the time waiting for approval.

Well, I'm Laura and my fiance is Tom (as you can tell by my username!). I work for the Ministry of Defence working alongside the RAF here in the UK and Tom is a SSgt in the USAF currently working in Bahrain. We met in May 2007 on plentyoffish.com when he was stationed here in the UK. I like shopping(!), watching films, reading and am hoping to learn how to work on cars. Tom is a massive car nut and is determined to get me a project car to work on. At the moment I'm kind of passing the time by planning the wedding. Currently the invites are keeping me busy. I am also getting ready for Christmas. I love this time of year and it's sort of making the waiting bearable. Am also counting down the days until Tom comes back to the UK in February for a week before he goes back to the US. The time I saw him was in August. I would love to see him in December but the flights are just too expensive and he wouldn't get any time off.

Well, I'm Janka, my fiance is Jeremy. I work in guest services for a hotel, I don't like my job too much but you know it pays. lol Our petition is currently lost, but we're not going to refile until I go down there for Thanksgiving later on in the month. We don't plan on doing a big wedding just our families with a little party. Even as a girl I never envisioned a wedding so this is in my comfort level. lol Jeremy works as web developer for himself and was formally in the US Military. We met online on blogtv.com, he was ranting about how he just wants to talk to a girl who doesn't take off her top and has some degree of intelligence. This intrigued me, so I added him and the rest goes from there. We are exactly the same yet different, we love the fact that we have found our equals in one another. Our 1 year is on Veteran's/Remembrance Day, I think it makes it special and well easy to remember. I'm not sure what else to tell ya.

What a good idea Laura!

I'm Julie from Montreal and my fiancé is Dexter, originally from Trinidad & Tobago, but now in Albany, NY. We met during carnival in Toronto, Canada. It wasn't instant love for me....I actually made him work. The reason is that we have a big age gap (close to 14yrs) and that he has children and was married before....but I'm glad I put all that aside and saw him for who he is.

We have 2 beautiful daughters together: Dahlia 15months and Jade 2months...yeah we moved fast! Too bad that USCIS is not as fast as us! LOL I quit my job when I left for my maternity leave, but used to be a social worker in a shelther for refugee women, children and young girls. I loooooved my job and was very much involved...yeah I can say I miss it....He works in freight transportation.

If all goes well (meaning if they let me through the border), we're going to Albany for 2 weeks to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family...I'll let you guys know.

Nice to meet you all! ^_^

The last time was August when he got two weeks off and we went to visit his parent's in PA. It was quite emotional as he hadn't seen them for about three years. Before that it was May when I went to visit him in Bahrain. Next time we'll see each other is February. This 6 months is the longest we've been without seeing each other.

I am Pete, originally from Philadelphia, currently living in Baltimore. I am a public school teacher and one semester away from a Master's degree from Johns Hopkins University. I met my fiancee, Nern, while I was living in Thailand. I was teaching at a university in Bangkok when we met in a Starbucks coffeeshop. She, too, is an English teacher, up in the north. I had been living there for about 2 and a half years already when we met; I spent another year and half in Thailand with her.

The most difficult decision of my life was to leave a comfortable job, climate, lifestyle, and most of all Nern. I did it to pursue this degree, gain more experience as a teacher, and save some money for our future together. I have been back in America for about 2 and a half years accomplishing just that. I have gone back to visit during the past two summers and she has come to study in Boston on a scholarship for 3 weeks. We talk everyday (Thank you Skype) and our commitment is incredible. As much as we look forward to our time together, we feel so grateful for what we have right now!

I can really understand what beans meant when she said

We are exactly the same yet different, we love the fact that we have found our equals in one another.

It is uncanny how we complement each other in all the best ways.

The last day we saw each other was August 7, 2008. We intend to be together around July 16, 2009.

It is a pleasure to know all of you.

WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We just got our NOA1 today!

We met in 2003 in the UK. He liked my boots, but didn't ask me out to lunch until 2007 in the US. We've spent the GDP of a small country on flights to see each other during that time and can't wait to see each for Christmas and New Year's.

Best of luck to everyone!
