That is a UK specific Packet 3 letter. Thailand's is quite different.

Nicaragua doesn't even have a packet three. Seems like an odd step. We just emailed with the Embassy directly once we received approval. Glad to see more progress.

oh, that sounds so simple!

uk filers can contact the embassy in london by email BUT only after calling them (on a phoneline that costs $2.50ish/minute!) to get a email code (that changes weekly!) so that you can email them. i think that is pretty awful and inefficient.

its like the love to add extra steps to make it more arduous. I don't even see how that helps them?

Our packet was touched today, so I presume its now on its way to NVC. I'll start calling them on Wednesday

Well I got my Packet 3 today. Kind of anti-climatic as the UK one is just a letter with links on how to download the forms and book your medical.

So that is what the packet 3 is hahaha i thought that would be called packet 4 but whatever it is....that letter arrived so late! i did my research and was able to schedule my interview appointment and go for my medical with just the EAC# and the MNL# and without that letter. My interview appointment was march 11 at 7am, after the interview i went straight home coz i was so sleepy and that was about an hour drive from my house because of traffic and then the letter just arrived delivered by DHL i opened it and read the letter and said useless letter coz i already passed the interview and would just need to wait about 3 days for my visa delivery. If i would have waited for that letter maybe by now i haven't gone thru everything.

someone said that this decreased availability of embassy/consulate employees was put in place after the attacks in london on 7 july 2005.

but i find it insulting as an american citizen that there is not a FREE email address available for the US embassy. they are too busy to deal with us, yet they are the only ones that can answer many specific questions. thus far, i have been sticking to checking my status with the DOS. the operators there are really very pleasant and seem to genuinely want to help you. a very nice change. thanks DOS!

Congrats Anne!!!

Guatemala doesn't have a packet 3 either, it was pretty nice because once we found out it was at the embassy we just emailed them and they emailed us packet 4. Good thing, because like I have said before, the mail system down there is horrendous. He still hasn't received packet 4...and we got it via email 2 weeks ago! His address is: such-n-such street, in front of the Catholic Church. How specific, right? So unless the postman knows his name specifically and where they live, it may end up at the tortilleria a couple doors down, or the motorcycle sales place the other way, or at the corner store. It's crazy!!!!!

Interview tomorrow, right winifredbee? We've got less than 4 weeks to go now til I get to see him (last time was Dec 31) and get ready for the interview, quiz him on my parents' names, where they live, how old my brothers are, etc., and go to the interview with him!

Anybody know how that works - if you go to the interview with your SO, isn't it kind of weird that they ask you "when did you meet, what does she do, etc." if she is sitting right there next to him?????

Thanks to all of you for remembering about my interview. I think we are ready. Good idea to quiz each other about the family stuff as well. I asked Sarah of Sarah and Yadar about the questioning at the interview. Balvino and I had dinner with them the day after their interview, here in Managua. Sarah said that they did not question them separately during the interview but they did pull Yadar aside when they were entering the states. Here in Managua you wait in a big room with everyone else and then simply walk up to a window and talk to a person on the other side. Nice to think that an entire room of strangers will be witnessing my reaction. EEEKKK!! Tomorrow can not come soon enough.

Yay congrats Anne!

I'm holding off on sending the packet 3 stuff back until I'm in the US in April. I don't want to send anything until I have Tom's affidavit stuff and he can't start that until he arrives in AL. I'll also include a letter requesting an interview for after I get back.

My fiancée was able to get her medical and police cert done yesterday. A woman at the hospital was also getting her medical for the visa, though she had already had the interview. She did not speak English, so there was a Thai translator and my fiancée said one of the questions asked of this lady was "When was the last time you slept with your fiancé?" I told my fiancée to be prepared for some abrupt questions. She doesn't seem to mind at all though.

Congrats Johan and Ann!!! All the best winifedbee. .
