@MJ3lasvegas

What exactly is the "marriage index" that you submitted during your interview? And how did you obtain it? The definition of what is marriage index and the difference between a certificate of marriage and marriage certiifcate is creating a lot of confusion for us here. Your reply will be greatly appreciated? Thanks a lot. :)

i did answer that on the other post..here's the link:

Thanks a gazillion! That surely shed some light to us who are still confused. So I'm assuming that you'll just apply for a CENOMAR and what is stated there will depend on your marital status. Again thanks for clarifying.

This is what I learned from the NSO.

CENOMAR stands for Certificate of No Marriage or previously known as Certification of Singleness. I think this is the document required for those whose visa applications are not based on marriage. The other one is CERAM or Certificate of Registry of Marriage. This is required for those who are already married to the American citizen. You may have already a copy of the NSO authenticated Marriage Contract which is but a scanned copy of your marriage contract but what is really necessary is the registration of that fact of marriage in the Marriage Index.

If you are previously married and was annulled, the other documents required by the USEM are the Certificate of Registration of Cancelled Marriage and the Certification of Registration of Decree of Annulment or Nullity of Marriage.

Thanks for the heads up! :) Though it's already moot for me since I've been interviewed already last Sept. 17 and awaiting for my DV. But this will definitely help those who are scheduled for interview. :)

On August 2008 List of Requirements for K1 Applicants, theres a portion in there about Document Verification. It states that those applications which are dependent on their marital status has to pay DV. So USEM will have to verify your Authenticated BC and CENOMAR or MC from NSO. DV takes 4-6 weeks (according to Grace and Lorraine from USEM) so it is suggested that you pay the soonest possible time.

Heres a link: http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfdelb.pdf

But now on the October 2008 List of Requirements for K1 Applicants, they removed the portion about document verification. So now people are confused if theres still DV. It is up to you if you still want to pay DV Php 650.

i was browsing through the USEM website for the purpose to learning as to weither or not there is still a DV.

below is the link to the IR, F and E interview instructions. as you may notice, it has been revised (dated as of October 2008). on the older version of this IV interview intruction, on item #12, DOCUMENTION VERIFICATION was listed as a pre-requisite for interview, NOW: IT HAS CHANGED and the revised edition has not made mention of the DV.

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfiven.pdf

i guess this is an indication that DV is NOT needed anymore. what do you think?

just to compared the NEW difference, here's item #12 of the OLDER VERSION:

12. DOCUMENT VERIFICATION FEE.

As a standard measure to validate the relationship upon

which the visa petition is based, the Embassy conducts independent verification of civil records directly

with Philippine government agencies before a visa can be issued. These local agencies charge a fee or fees

for the records search, retrieval services and for making copies of public records. If you are the principal

beneficiary of an F2B, F1 or IR1/CR1 category, we strongly encourage you to pay the document

verification fee before your visa interview to avoid unnecessary delay in issuing the visa. The

document verification fee is PHP650. This document verification fee is NOT the visa application fee.

For specific instructions concerning payment, visit our web site at

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfdelb.pdf.

now this is what's written on item #12 on the NEWER VERSION:

12. SUPPORTING EVIDENCE IDENTITY AND/OR RELATIONSHIP.

Applicants should be prepared to submit documents that further establish their claimed identity and/or their relationship with the petitioner or the principal applicant. Multiple photographs with the petitioner or principal applicant taken over a significant period of time, personal correspondence, home telephone records, financial records, proof of joint property ownership and/or joint financial obligations, original baptismal records, school records, medical records and adoption decrees are often useful.

i have no idea for the K visas but please for those who underwent the preparation on that visa category previously, please post the NEW difference so we can help enlighten others who are still yet waiting to be interviewed.

If this is true about DV, I will do my best to confirm soon. Anyone that attends the interview in the next day or so could you please find out from CO? I am reading where some applicants speak to Grace or Lorraine and are getting conflicting advice, but if it is taken off the official US Embassy site I tend to believe it is no longer required.

This could result in 'sticky' change for those new to the forum.

since when did that issue came out? I had my interview last september and they asked me to pay 650php for DV. I'm actually on my 3rd week of waiting.

I too was interviewed last September and still waiting.T his issue seemed to come out only in October. Some members here who were interviewed in October were only asked for the CENOMAR. Also, this doesn't seem to be retroactive.
