Lying during any part of this procedure and process to me isn't worth it. Wouldn't it be best to say that yes, he did it over 5 years ago but has since rehabilitated?

Which will cause a denial. There are remedies. The remedies take years.

I agree with that and i'd love for him to be able to say, "yes i did it but that is when i was stupid and have since grown up" but won't they still deny him? You can't tell me that every person that has been approved hasn't ever tried drugs? I mean he was young and not mature.

There is nothing that can detect 5 years ago. I will go ahead and say it!!!!! It was just trying it!!! SAY NO to any drug use!!! He would be completely stupid to do anything else.

but some of us are sensitive to TOS violations, which of course advocating misrepresentation would be such a violation

She said he has not done anything for 5 years. As long as he didn't get arrested for doing illegal drugs then why say anything.

Besides the medical is to check to see if you are bring dieases here and that is about all as long as your are healthy.

The medical is designed to assist in discovering or uncovering visa ineligibilities.... of which a "controlled substance violator" happens to be one under 212(a)(2)(A)(i)(II)

Well then if someone is actually going to ask this question, here is a good answer.

It would be a safe bet that at least 80% of the people on this board have at least tried some kind of drug in their lifetime. It would also be a safe bet that not one of them mentioned anything about it in the immigration process. After all if all someone does is try it and there is no record of it and it was 5 years ago, there is absolutely no way for anyone to know about it unless you tell thim. Then even after that, there is absolutely no way for anyone to prove it.

My concern is that if he lies and if the medical examiner presses the issue, he may get caught in the lie or exhibit nervousness which will indicate that he is not being truthful

I guess you have to ask yourself how good of a liar he is.

No question here. Just say now. It's been over 5 years. If he is not using it anymore, even if they press and give him the drug test, his blood will be negative, so what is the issue? There is no test that can prove that he did Marijuana 5 years ago.
