This visa waiting has been causing me and my husband a great deal of stress, time and money wise. Right now, he is back in Shanghai to maximize the time of waiting for the visa. He seldoms visit any asian country twice but in this instance, he did, much to the consternation I supposed of his company, hahaha!

But he has long decided that he won't again be leaving back to the US without me and my daughter. I have gone tired of travelling with him and being idle isn't really my cup of tea. Going from one country to another may sound glamourous but really, airports and hotels could be so annoying and tiresome. Somehow, I am thankful that my passport is with the USEM, hahaha!

And so he went back to Shanghai and will be proceeding back to South Korea next week.

I do not know what is the problem of Delbros. We paid for the verification fee as early as August 28 and had received the confirmation thru text messages on the same day. As such I expected that the verification would be done as soon as it received the payment. As it turned out however, the NSO received the request from Delbros only on September 26. What was that? They took our money under that pain of doing their job to process visa much faster and it is now the one that causes the delay in the processing!

Indeed, what best reason can the USEM give us other than pass the blame to Delbros which in this case seems to be right?

But as in everything, there is time for everything. What really can we do but continue to this aggravating waiting...sigh...

Be patient.. Your waiting will be worthy once you received the Visa.. Sometimes it take longer than we expected as they have to verify or do some background checks to the Petitioner.

Once you get your greencard and you arrived in the US, since you and your husband travelling all the time, even though your card is conditional you can apply for citizenship, if your husband is working working for an american company overseas.. provided that he is regularly stationed abroad.. The term “regularly stationed abroad” means that the overseas employment contract for your spouse clearly shows that your spouse’s employment will continue abroad for at least one year after the date that you will be naturalized.

The physical presence in the US is waived under Article 319b of Immigration and Nationality Act.

I stand corrected. After getting an information from the NSO that the documents requested for verification were already ready for transmittal to the USEM, I called Delbros and found out that they but a collecting agent, i.e., they do the colection of the payment from the applicants and pay whichever Philippine Office of the fees for the necessary verification of documents. Such in the case of issuance of Certificate of Registry of Marriage as appearing in the Marriage Index which, as I have gathered, costs P190.00 if individually requested.

I also found out that the document verification in the Philippines has been considered a must (notwithstanding the submission of NSO authenticated copies of birth certificates, cancelled birth certificates, marriage contracts, cancelled marriage contracts, decree of nullity of marriage and such other official public documents) because Philippines is considered as a high fraud country.

Sigh...

At least this experience helps. Immigration seems to be a challenge to consider an option for specialization!

true, but the USEM has recently "somehow" halted the DV due to backlogs (as confirmed by GRACE when i called USEM earlier to day). i guess they're all swarmed up with papers stacked up documents in their office waiting for DV results thats why they are lifting the DV for recent applicants. the DV has caused so much tension to everyone..

Is it really? What reason are they gonna use for delayed processing now then? That they are undermanned? DV is a better excuse to pass the buck, lol!

After you paid DV, text delbros and you should 2 replies from them.... receipt of payment and confirmation of request from USEM. A week after that, you can start calling USEM to check if they already sent your DV to NSO. If they did, you can call in again every week to check if DV is done (before or after your interview). USEM hotline (011-63-2-3012000) is for petitioners, not for beneficiaries to call (according to Grace and Lorraine).

But they say DV is temporarily taken out of the process. *shrugs* I dont know.

You're right on that ping. I was really flabbergasted when Lorraine told me that I should not be calling the hotline. She could have just gracefully told me that the hotline is only for petitioners. Instead, she said she would prefer to talk to American citizens. I was like...whuuwaaat?

But then she must have been probably tired already and was beset by a lot of disgruntled calls due to the delay in the processing of visa. I thus, must understand that sometimes, ineptitude is due more to stress than lack of grace.
