Hello to all!

I'm back..sorry for the late post of my POE ..just got a little busy this past few days but here it is:

The whole trip was ok except when my son is fussy ..but overall he's cooperative.

We arrived at NAIA past 6 and asked the help of the airport porter for my luggage, went straight to JAL counter under special assistance as I needed one because I'm travelling with a baby. From there we went to the immigration line, the lady was ok..gave her our passports..she asked if it's just the 2 of us travelling..asked for my son's exit permit..then gave us back our passports (my son is a USC). Ooppss..i forgot..i also paid 750 for airport fee..

Off we went to JAL boarding gate, the stroller was of great help that I don't need to carry my son while at the airport. We waited and get to board first hehehehe.. arrived at tokyo at around 230pm, waited for our next flight till 630 pm..we got the same airline (JAL), the service was off the charts! I recommend it..hehehe oopps OT.

We arrived at JFK by 7 pm, seen a filipino who asked "Sayo to? (referring to the stroller), i replied "Opo" without even looking at the person, i thought i'm still in manila..hahaha...then off we go to the immigration, the airport people are nice and helpful, the lady helped me with the stroller and my carry on..i needed to carry baby as he was getting fussy (i'm proud of my son for being so good during our almost 24 hours flight).

Immigration line is not that long as I expected..there's 2 persons ahead of us..

When it was our turn, i gave the immigration guy our passports and told him that "my son is a USC and i'm on k1"..he said "Ok, do you have your paper works?" gave him the packet but not the xray..he didn't even asked for it...after a couple of minutes he asked us to follow him in the immigration office. Waited for 5 minutes and he gave my passport back with I-94 stapled on it. I asked again while pointing to the xray film, "do I need to submit this? "he said no..you're good to go. so i thank them and walked away to get our luggages.

Our 2 luggage bags we're the only ones left at the conveyor, so i asked the helped of the airport guy and walked us thru exit..gave the custom form to the custom person then went out to the arrival area.

My silly honey is waiting for us..and off we go to our hotel.

Overall, my POE experience is not difficult...wasn't asked any question at all.

Thanks tzeksman, I did use the bassinet..you can request for it at the same time you purchased your ticket, i recommnend flying with JAL as they really are childfriendly airline..it will be easy for you if you're travelling with your husband..but i didn't get any problems at all when i flew with him alone.

Thanks, Ill check those site and share them with my wife when i get there. We requested the bassinet and our son should just barely fit in to there requirements when we fly on the 24th. actually since he is so active now we plan to basically "wear him out" all day and maybe even at the lay-over in tapei unless he is extraly grumpy just try to make him so tired he wants to just sleep. I hope thats not cruelbut thats what we think might be best. we will b e leaving late in the day anyways so it will be towards his resting time anyways......the part we worry about is the air pressure. I mean what do you do for a baby at 9 mos as far as taking off and getting him adjusted for that. Nonetheless im glad ill be there with my wife so i can assist her but if anyone has suggestions im an open book!!! My wife says as long as he "feels" like he is in motion like in a car he sleeps but i dunno how he will transalte that feeling on the plane...actually im not worried whatever it is it is an if people around us dont like it whatever....its only 13 hours out of my life and theirs as well

Hi,

We have travelled twice around the world with my baby when he was on his 4th month and 12 months. because of our job... Babies even you worn him all day does not make them sleep on plane, you will just make him more miserable and fussy.. Best is to be prepared and bring things that he will really need..

I would advise to bring the following things on plane:

1.. Manzanilla or any baby oil or little tummies for babies =

this is when he get gas or flatulence. due to air pressure even the adults get gasses as well. Babies cry when they feel something uncomfortable, and one this is having a bloated stomach.. Make sure that you rub/massage his stomach with manzanilla or any baby oil to avoid discomfort.

2. MORE Diapers =

Some airplane can not provide diapers, other airports does not sell any diaper as well.. Make sure you bring at least 2 dozens of diaper (1 pack) as this is a long hours flight.

3. Bottle, Milk and Milk Dispenser

It will be best to bring at least 3 bottles and a milk dispenser, to avoid opening the can of milk and be exposed to air virus on plane.. Put the extra can in the carry on bag just in case.

4. Baby Crackers/Crackers = for you and your baby to munch in.

5. Hand Sanitizer = to sanitize your hand when giving food to the baby

6. Johnson Baby Wipes - for changing diaper

7. Pacifier = if he is using pacifier, if not just give a bottle of milk, to avoid air pressure in his ears..

8. Toys - Bring some of his favorite toys

9. extra clothes, for you and the baby , make sure you bring extra bibs as well..I would recommend at 10 bibs( just in case your baby slobber too much)

Babies can vomit, poop, get wet - Make sure you bring at least 6 pairs of clothes.. and at least 1 pants and 3 shirt for you, just in case he vomited on you, pee on you, or even poop on you..

10. Blanket = The airplane gets too cold, but do not dress him too much, as baby can be somehow a hot nature, so just bring blanket to cover him.

11. Lampin or small towel - to put on your shoulder just in case..

11. Water = Make sure you keep your baby hydrated on the plane.. due to elevated pressure babies can die from dehydration, so make sure you gave him enough water..

12. Small First Aid Kit - like Tylenol or Tempra, just in case he encounter fever and such..

Separate your carry on. Separate the Baby Stuff and your stuff to avoid hassle when trying to get stuff for the babies in the above compartment.. THis iwill be easier for you get something without finding and looking for baby stuff..

This is all of what I think of now, I will email you later if i missed something..

Last but not the least, try to relax, babies can sense when you are tired, and he can be fussy because of you//

. Car seat,= there is a car seat that really fits in the seat on the economy.. (if you are going to buy a seat for him, as he is 9 months old, both of you will be tired of holding him on the plane..)

I forgot to include ORESOL for babies, just in case he got diarrhea while travelling and other skin antibiotic like terramycin or equivalent for babies just in case he gets a cuts..

Got this from the girltalk site:

For mommies going to the US, if you can find Hyland's Calms Forte for Kids and Bach's Rescue Remedy, it's really a lifesaver for long travel with kids.

It really helps calm them down (but not make them lethargic or sleepy) lalo when they are stressed.

what i did during take off and landing i feed him so that the pressure in his ears will pop.

or if he does like pacifier give it to him during take off and landing.

goodluck to ur trip
