You can start with this fare and search to see if you can find better.

From MNL Manila To LAX Los Angeles

Depart Date and Flight

2009-01-29 Thursday

CI 702 29-1045 29-1245

CI 006 29-1640 29-1205

Adult Amount 661.9(USD)

China Airlines is nicer than any American Carrier.

If you have the extra cash you can fly her Business Class for 1401.9 (USD)

Better service at airport, can take more luggage, and have better service, seat (upper Level), and better meal on the aircraft.

Both my wife and I liked CI very much, especially for the price.

Show a little class and fly her business. [Mabuhay]. Let her leave the Philippines like a queen. One time event in her life and the extra few bucks it cost me was PRICELESS.

PAL gave a 20% first time immigrant discount also.

In a perfect world yes but in the real world where budgets are tight that doesnt always work out. Especially if you have a family to bring over. Whereas this member doesnt appear to, nonetheless budgets are tight for many folks nowadays. If you can I say go for it but dont feel your "classless" if you cant.

Here is a local operator or travel agent Staryways International at 525-4009 or 524-0236. Try to compare this with Reli Tours. I was quoted at $703 (tax inclusive) MNL to LAX for an economy class of service for a December schedule. As far as i am concerned, NW, comes out cheaper than PAL, Cathay or JAL (just not sure with EVA) because it is an 'American' airline and has a lot of gateways in the US...anyways, i hope NW can still match your budget of $1k for an Oct flight...the fare standard is the same in all airlines the nearer the date of departure the expensive the airfare gets... good luck :)

It is cheaper to use a travel agent rather that online sites like expedia. Its even more expensive going direct to the airline. Agents get some sort of bulk rate and the can pass the savings if they want. Try to bargain and its best if they are a friend or you are referred. We paid $661 non-stop MNL to LAX. Its possible to get a better price if you book ahead and it depends on the season.
