Vito has been in England visiting me since the 25th sept, and he goes back tomorrow (9th :( ). the day before he flew (23RD SEPT) he phoned up the uscis help line to see if we had a problem as they were over half way through may, and our noa1 was may 1st. we were given the shouldn't be expecting anything till december line

Till this day it still says when we log on recieved and pending with the last touch being the 4th of july.

this sunday we checked his email to find one from his mum saying he had recieved a letter from the bureau of affairs, we assume it arrived saturday as she was in regualar contact with us. she scanned the letter for us and emailed it to us.

the letter dated 1st october, is from the NVC stating that they have recieved our approved petition (when did this happen  )and within the week it will be forwarded to the appropriate embassy (is this what they say to everyone? ). it gives us our old case number and the new LDN number.

:dance::dance: we are so happy we have been approved, the wait seemed so much longer than it was :dance:

but,

We still have not to our knowledge recieved a hard copy of our noa2 and have not got an email confirmation. it concerns me that He has recieved a letter from the NVC in a different state before he got the hard copy of the noa2 from the CSC when he lives in the same state as the latter.

Has this happened to anyone else, if so please share your experiences and should we be worried if the hard copy of the noa2 is not there when he arrives home?

Hannah, it happens very often that CSC does not update their automated system but I have no clue why he didn't get the I-797 (noa2) hardcopy before the letter from the NVC. I've not heard of that.

You will need a hard copy of the I-797 to file at adjustment so you should work on getting that. Is he sure it wasn't missed in the mail?

In any case, it's great news all around...congratulations!!!

thanks for the congrats!!

as far as we can tell the only letter we have got is the nvc one, his mum only told us about it and checked it for us because it had the bureau of affairs on the envelope, other wise she wouldn't have have known to tell us. apparently thats the only one that came that looked official. when Vito arrives home he can check properly, but if it not there i'm guessing we will have to call them then?

Would the noa2 have the same stamp on the envelope?

The NOA2 (I-797) comes just like the NOA1. Department of Homeland Security I think it says.

Not sure how you'll get a copy of the approval notice if he didn't get it. Perhaps an infopass appointment.

btw... it's very likely your approved petition is already in London. You will need to download the packet 3/information packet and send it back to them. Nich-Nick can help you with that if you PM her. :)

You will also want to perhaps have him prepare two notarized affidavit of supports (I-134) for the interview as it seems some CO's in London are having a problem with the way Q.11 (at least I think it's Q.11) is answered on the forms and request different answers. I'm sure you can find more about it in the regional boards.

good luck! I'm glad your time has finally come!

Yeah, it's specific to London actually and fairly new. I've seen three couples now be questioned about that particular question in London and although two made it through without too much hassle, one was left to get a new affidavit. :( Graham and Meagan in our April VSC thread had the problem first and then others followed. I think it's sunnybear (Jan CSC filer) that mentioned she was having two done so that it does not create a problem or delay at the interview. The topic has been discussed in both of those threads and i'm quite sure the London Regional folks are talking about it too.

About the letters from the NVC. They are what everyone is suppose to receive... one to tell you that they've got it and will send it out within a week (usually within days) and one to tell you that they have sent it (it's usually at the USEM by then as it only takes 2-3 days to get there. Well, in our case we were held up in security checks for 3 weeks at NVC and in that time I received two letters stating they had it and were going to send it out. Never received a letter stating they did send it out. I called a couple of times a week until they told me when it was sent out. ;)

In any case, it's been a while now so it's likely your man can call DOS ((202) 663-1225 Press 1, then Press 0) instead and they can tell him if/when it arrived at the Embassy.

This didn't happen to Courtney and I however we did sign up on the USCIS website to email notification when something changed on our application. We didn't and still havn't received any email saying we had received our NOA2. From what i've seen this is pretty common. Only way I knew we had been approved was by physically checkinmg myself. Courtney did receive the hard copy of the NOA2 two days ago now in Colorado.

I phoned NVC today and they told me they received our approved application on October 6th and it should take 5 working days before they send it to the London embassy. It really is true that things move a lot faster once you get the approval from CSC. I just hope the rest of our process and everyone else's continues to move as fast. The main thing is you are no longer at CSC and now that you have the new reference number form NVC it is a lot easier to track the progress.

Good luck with the rest of your visa application

Stuart :)
