An anonymous flier circulating in African-American neighborhoods in North and West Philadelphia states that voters who are facing outstanding arrest warrants or who have unpaid traffic tickets may be arrested at the polls on Election Day.

Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Everett Gillison, who learned of the flier last week, said that the message is completely false.

"The only thing that police officers are going to do that we'll be encouraging that day is that they'll be exercising their own individual right to vote," Gillison said.

Gillison referred the matter to the U.S. Attorney's Office and the district attorney.

"We are not going to stand for any intimidation of voters," Gillison said. "Not in this city."

With the Katherine Harris black voter scrubbing in Florida, and the fliers-telling-people-to-vote-the-day-after-the-election/lack of voting machines in black neighborhoods in Ohio, it's pretty evident Republicans want to disenfranchise black voters.

And one wonders why they never actually get the black vote..

Maybe when people are too busy trying to screw you, you might not want to vote for them.

of course they did. it's just like in 2000 when they prevented lots of legal voters from voting because their name "looked" like a felons name or they have "similar" birthdays. the republicans never change.

I've seen them do that with the you have won a prize and must come pick it up scam. It was for anyone with outstanding tickets though.

i posted about this subject yesterday. i'm sure any sane republican would find this as disgusting as a democrat. after all, we are in a democracy, right?

They had the same SSN too? I doubt you've voted in this country before because there's usually poll watchers from representatives from both parties at polls. Translation- Democrats are deaf and blind at polling places or don't report violations by the GOP. Even I don't believe that for a minute.

Democrats are usually the ones who want loose election day laws to encourage ballot box stuffing . . .I mean to increase turnout. Check out ACORN and lawsuits against voter ID to see how to help sway an election.
