Hi, I have been reading and don't seem to see anyone that had to send there K-3 (spouse) to the Chicago service center. I live in South Carolina so mailed my I-130 to Texas, which was transferred to California. Mailed the K-3 to Chicago. How fast is Chicago? I have kept a check on the site and have been touched 3 times since my notice of action April 28, 2006. California has touched the I-130 2 times since I got notice of action April 18, 2006. From what I read this sounds good. How many times do they "touch" it? Seems mine is more than most in such a short time. Any suggestions or tips? I am concerned as I am going back to China June 2 to be with my wife a month or two. Also, all these updates, no emails from them even though I signed up for them?

Married: March 24

I-130 Received in California: April 10

Notice of action: April 18

1st update: April 21

2nd update: May 2

K-3 in Chicago: received April 25

Notice of action: April 28

1st update:May 2

2nd update: May 6

3rd update: May 10

Welcome to VisaJourney. We also did the K3 route. You send everything to Chicago, but that is not where it is processed. It is sent from Chicago to Missouri. Your number should start with MSCxxxxxxxxxxx. The MSC stands for Missouri Service Center, they do the K3.

Good luck in your journey.

Jackie

Hi,

I have also had to send my papers through Chicago. We are pretty close to the same timeframes, but mine has not been touched even once (which makes me worry).

I received my NOA1 for the I-130 on April 28. I sent my papers through to Nebraska and they were forwarded to California. Then the I-129F I sent in to Chicago and got the NOA1 for that on May 13. I often wonder if it makes a difference what the country is where our spouses are coming from. Anyways - I hope for both of our sakes that it's quick as it's real torture to be without our spouses.

05.02.2008 - Sent AOS & EAD package to Chicago.

05.04.2008 - Package recieved in Chicago.

05.09.2008 – Received NOA's.

06.04.2008 - Biometrics appt.

07.25.08 - Work Permission Received in Mail

07.28.08 - Applied for Social Security Number

08.04.08 - Received Social Security Number in Mail

09.29.08 - Started job

01.29.09 - AOS Interview

I think your ok as far as the papers. My state senator told me they will contact you for more info right fast if anything is wrong. Some posts I have read never shows touched at all and then all the sudden approved. It's a mess! I wrote my state senator and he called me on the phone last week and wanted my case number for the I-129F K-3. He said they cannot take any longer than 90 days, if so he can contact them. Maybe we will be lucky and get it sooner I hope. Yes, it is bad being away from my wife and I know exactly what your going through. Many sleepless nights, you name it and of all, worrying about the times! We do talk on the computer everyday and use a web cam wich does help. I am still thinking after all is approved and before she can even go to her interview will be a total of no sooner than 8 months from the date I started. Sad, but worth the wait! So I just try to take it one day at a time. Good luck to you too.

jdgatorman,

There is no "Chicago service center" - the Chicago lockbox is simply the application receiving section of the National Benefits Center, formerly known as the Missouri Service Center. Some clerical work is performed in Chicago before the cases are sent on to the NBC for processing.

Touches are like the processing time estimates - good for creating anxiety.

No e-mails because nothing reportable has yet been done.
