New Evidence Shows Bush Had No Plan to Catch bin Laden After 9/11

Gotta laugh at the notion that the U.S. was diverted getting Bin Laden in 2001 because it was planning for a war with a Iraq in 2003.

Funny? You betcha!

In the aftermath of Sept. 11, President Bush ordered his then top anti-terrorism adviser to look for a link between Iraq and the attacks, despite being told there didn't seem to be one...

Clarke says that as early as the day after the attacks, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was pushing for retaliatory strikes on Iraq, even though al Qaeda was based in Afghanistan. Clarke suggests the idea took him so aback, he initally thought Rumsfeld was joking.

[Lots more goodies in the link]

Which is exactly what people were saying all along - that the administration cherry picked the available intel to support a predetermined policy.

Anyone who even read Bush's autobiographer/ghost writer's book, even snippets of it, would have seen that Bush wanted to go into Iraq even BEFORE he was handed the Presidency by the Supreme Court.

Wise people know the Bin Laden thing was a joke. Iraq had been planned, the intelligence had been fixed, and 9/11 was a perfect excuse to go into Iraq. However, Congress wanted to just make sure Bush and them looked serious about Bin Laden, because Bush had tried once before to go into Iraq, Congress said no, so then he made up a bunch of ####### about WMDs and did a complete 180 about Saddam's capabilities of.. anything, just to attack him.

The fact that we're still talking about this today and so many think Saddam either had something to do with 9/11, or that Bush never had plans go to into Iraq, must really be fvcking kidding themselves, need to put down the flag, and give their head a good shake, or preferably ram it into a wall -- whichever works best.

The no fly zone over Iraq, sanctions, attacks on ADA facilities, retaliatory bombings, Congression resolutions for regime change and mobilization all took place before G.W. Bush ever took the oath of office. Doesn't anyone remember Bill Clinton anymore? I think he held some sort of public office in 90s.

I don't remember Clinton being responsible for Bush's actions.

Does Bush live vicariously through Clinton?

No Bin-Laden, no fear. And fear is what Bush & Co. governed on. They benefitted from him being on the lose which is why he is on the lose.

Oh Good Grief! I think I remember reading somewhere that Bin-Laden has been either killled or captured long ago..

I must say I really do love how the administration points the finger of blame at everyone but itself.

I'd say it's a usual tactic of Republicans when Bush gets taken to task for anything.

It was likely Clinton's fault Bush made oil friends in the Carlyle group, or that Bush was a raging alcoholic.

You brought up Bush's plans for Iraq and thought they were original. When challenged you suddenly couldn't recall anything I mentioned.

Don't worry. I'm sure Obama will blame everything on Bush for the next 4 to 8 years.

I still don't understand why we're so hung up on the terrorists when Bush has been directly responsible for more American deaths caused by the Iraq War than 9/11 itself. This sort of treason goes overlooked just because he's the President? Just makes me shake my head at how utterly politically divisive or apathetic we've become that we either don't care about this, or get into the political blame game over taking responsibility as voters/citizens.

Things are certainly not going to get better if we can't even hold elected officials responsible for their actions. I just wonder what it's going to take.

Bush's plans are BUSH'S plans. Once again, Clinton isn't responsible for Bush. Is there some sort of mental block in that head of yours preventing this notion from sinking in?

Good lord I feel like I'm talking to a spoiled little kid who wants to blame everyone else and make asinine predictions.

I have an idea, why don't you step outside your political fanboy suit and try to discuss like a big boy.

Far more Americans died in WWII than Pearl Harbor making FDR the greatest traitor in American history by your own definition. I don't agree with the statement but hey it's YOUR reasoning writ large.

Treason? You are classic nut job. If Bush committed treason there are a lot of questions. Which foreign power did he sell out too? How does a C-in-C commit treason when he's at the top of the chain-of-command? What did Bush get as a reward for his "treason"? Why didn't the Democrats impeach Bush in the last years if the "treason" was so blatant and heinous? Is the media part of conspiracy, too?

This is the part where SRVT chases his tail around, gets tired, and throws a dart at his dartboard of "enemies" to determine who's to blame this time.

Actually, no. Unless your assertion that WWII is relative to Iraq, especially in regards to the topic, which is feigning interest in a war on terror and lying up and down to Americans to justify either a personal vendetta against another leader (which was his own predecessors' faults in the first place) or simply personal/relationship-wise reasons (KBR/Halliburton/Carlyle Group have investments into Iraq or contracts).

Treason is disloyalty to one's own nation. His own personal interests went above the nation's, resulting in American deaths. He can be charged for numerous crimes against the country with such treasonous acts, like invading another sovereign nation under false pretenses, using covert national surveillance to spy on Americans (can be officially/legally an act of high treason, contrary to your belief it doesn't have to be an attempt to murder a top U.S. official), abuse of FBI national security letters to spy on Americans not even suspected of anything, complicity in allowing the military and SS to engage in torture and extraordinary renditions against the Geneva convention. The laundry list goes on and on.

Democrats TRIED to impeach Bush, but some dumbass names Jim Sensenbrenner refused to give them a committee room to even investigate it. THEN, in an election year stunt, Pelosi publicly states to take Bush's impeachment "off the table". So a complicit Congress as well, patting each other on the back.

This is the part where SRVT chases his tail around, gets tired, and throws a dart at his dartboard of "enemies" to determine who's to blame this time.

Convenient excuse, fanboy. Enjoy your crooked-a$$ politicians while you bend over and take it from them with a smile on your face. If you clench tightly, you might be able to straighten out the flag.
