We would like to spend our honeymoon in Quebec, Canada, will this be a problem? Will our marriage license be enough to get back into the United States after our honeymoon? Not without Advance Parole or green card...

Without AP or green card she can leave but once she leaves her K-1 status will have terminated and she will not be allowed back in.... you will not be allowed to adjust your status to permanent resident and you will begin the process again by petitioning now for your new spouse

YMMV

The honeymoon outside of the U.S. will have to wait until either AP or GC is received.

If you get all your AOS paperwork done before your wedding, you can mail the package off as soon as you get the certified copy of your Marriage Certificate.

We got married on Saturday, August 28th, and I mailed our AOS package off on Monday, August 30th after going to the court house to get our marriage certificate. We asked the judge that married us to give us the marriage certificate that we signed right after our marriage and we took it to the court house ourselves, rather than letter the judge mail it in. It can takes weeks to get your marriage certificate back if you let the person who marries you mail it in. Just ask them to give it to you to take in yourselves.

Good luck.

Did you say you JUST filed your K1 visa and are now waiting on the rest??

I hope you know you wont be getting married THAT soon if yyou do not have the visa. If you JUST sent it off you better expect a 6 month to a 9 month wait for the visa:)

Hi faramir777, welcome to VJ!

I think by now you know that you can't have a honeymoon in Canada until you get your AP (Advanced Parole) document so that you can enter back into the US after leaving. There are so many places you could honeymoon in the US though!

I'm providing a link to lots of information you might need that is specific to Canada/US immigration. There are a few procedures at the Consulate stage that might be helpful for your interview. As well, there is always talk of Tim Horton's and hockey. Please drop by to participate! You don't need to be the Canadian to do so.
