Its just the usual round of "pump me up" rhetoric.

Not unlike "The US' healthcare system is the envy of the world*"

McCain didn't say that, did he?!

that must have been during the part i dozed off...

No - but its a common rhetorical talking point. Everything is *better* in America when it comes to politicans trying to score points.

Just caught a part of McCain's post-debate rally in Pennsylvania... 1) haven't seen that much denial in a diatribe since last night here on VJ and 2) he mentions Americans are the best workforce in the world... but I wonder why he says so if he's promoted a financial system where companies export American jobs overseas.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

So help me figure this out..

Is it slightly less than half the population are registered voters because the electorate sucks so badly?

Or slightly less than half of the population are lazy and/or apathetic?

I try and figure out why, besides just the fact that most see it as only two options, which is one of the biggest factors in and of itself, people are simply so against politics. I mean, politics affects one more than American Idol, yet more people vote for the latter.

Anyways, I look at the debates, how boring they were, and I'm pretty sure I have an idea how debate #3 is going to be. Dull, unintelligible, stump speeches, nauseating.

Maybe half the population is illegal and can't vote? Of course the Democrats will change that and give them all amnesty and the right to vote. Meanwhile those here who are doing it legally can wait and wait............

Barck did look like he was enjoying the debate. He would laugh at McCains lies...

While tellling his own...........

I didn't think there was any difference between Obama and McCain on the illegal immigrant issue...

It doesn't seem to be an issue that the campaigns are really addressing.

i admit i haven't read this thread, i'm just watching the debate online now. does anyone else get really irritated when they hear things like this?

mccain: "America is the greatest force for good in the history of the world. My friends, we have gone to all four corners of the Earth and shed American blood in defense, usually, of somebody else's freedom and our own."

i'm failing to see what's so irritating about it.

I think what he means is that it can be insulting... a suggestion that if you question your government or don't support them 100% you aren't being patriotic (e.g. Bush's "if you aren't with me you are against me" statement). Many republicans wrongly associate supporting the Iraq war with patriotism & personally I find that to be offensive & insulting to my intelligence.

I have 21 years of service in the Army & served in Bosnia and Iraq, so I think I have a pretty good idea what patriotism means. You can support our troops, love our country AND disagree with our government all at the same time.

i'm a she, and you hit the nail right on the head

:crying: sorry I didn't realize you were a woman

Yea, immigration has dropped off the radar since the economy went down the toilet.

That is because they take the least number of days off to play in any developed country.

Is this a good thing?
