Tied the knot (legal ceremony, part one) – January 26th, 2008 (kinda spontaneous)

AOS: Mailed V-Day; received February 15th, 2007 – phew!

I-485 application transferred to CSC – March 12th, 2008

Travel/Work approval notices via email – April 23rd, 2008

Green card/residency card: email notice of approval – August 28th, 2008 yippeeeee!!!

Funny-looking card arrives – September 6th, 2008 :)

Mailed request to remove conditions – July 7, 2010

Landed permanent resident approved – August 23rd, 2010

Second funny looking card arrives – August 31st, 2010

I take public transit for pretty much everything. Except maybe to go to nearby towns to do the tourist thing. Bren also takes public transit so our car really doesn't get used. I think the car is considering suicide since its life is really empty :lol:

well I'd spend a LOT more on groceries, my husband couldn't get to work (ya, it is impossible, no one to carpool with and no public transportation) I'd have a REALLY hard time getting to school and we couldn't get any of our important stuff done (banking, paperwork for our house etc) BUT once we move, all this will change! It will be so nice to carpool to school, my husband can jog to work and there's a good grocery store within a 5 minute walk and a costco within 15!

Keep in mind there's virtually NO public transportation (thats reliable at least) in large parts of the midwest.

it would be here, aside from the heat and the humidity (it's somewhat cool here today and its 80f with 80% humidity) which would make you turn up to work sweating like a pig, there are NO sidewalks, at all. it would be highly dangerous to do that here, sadly. i miss sidewalks :crying:

If I didn't drive my car for a week I wouldn't be going anywhere. We don't have public transportation where I live. It's impossible for me to carpool because I don't have the same schedule as friends/family going the same place as me. So yeah, I could save money by not driving my car and flex my consumeristic muscle but I'd get fired for missing a week of work. :lol:

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.
