I am intrigued, how are you proposing to provide 'safety, security and a meal on the table' By?

How long is a piece of string?

A lot of successful strategies used overseas would be unconstitutional here and without any doubt branded as being racist.

Second of all, America is still stuck in the who is to blame, finger pointing, stage. Also known as trench warfare.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

What sort of strategies were you thinking of?

Is this Palin speak? Make sense damn you!

Seriously, I have no idea how your answer relates to my question.

That was the point.

Yes I have not researched specific strategies..

i guess my original point was targeted at die hard republicans who won't budge on anything, rednecks. there's a lot here (in the deep south). i don't think for a second that anyone who comes on here falls into that category.

i've met quite a few "rednecks" (which btw i consider to be a disparaging term) who are strongly democratic.

you think it's disparaging? have you been to the south? just an hour ago i saw a truck drive by with the word REDNECK across the windshield. it is very very common here, people are proud of it.

you must be new here.

and if you watch how that word is thrown around in vj, it's used to look down on a group of people.

i am, and i don't mean it to be offensive, it's a fact of life down here. ;) all those people with "redneck" on their trucks and with t-shirts and stuff (there's a lot of em) will most likely be voting for mccain even though voting for a woman is totally against their morals (as i have heard from some of them). i'm not a big fan of these people as i am sure they are not of me either. i don't look down on them though, they're people just like you and me. :)

Let me get this right then, you don't think education is an important strategy at this time, you think it's more important to provide a safe and secure environment and sufficient food? I am not sure I follow, is it just a matter of telling these people that's what they need, or is there some way to enforce them to do this? I thought that is what entitlement programs sought to achieve, with the added bonus of providing education as well. However, you believe these entitlement programs lead to the recipients turning into lazy, demanding bums. My head is turning...

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

The United Kingdom and Australia both prove that no matter how much money (welfare) and opportunities (through education) you throw at people, certain people will still be more prone to crime than others. Especially in communities where kids folks do not give a #### about them.

Actually six, most of the people I went to school with who are now serving time came from wealthy families. The problem was they did not have any discipline at home and due to over zealous youth protection laws, were not disciplined in the real world either. What was it maviwaro called it, cause and effect.

You mention education over and over again yet I have shown one recent example of a African American kid being strangled at school by a fellow African American student, who is a known gang member. So you tell me six, what sort of education should this kid aspire for. Yes this same kid who is worried about being harassed, bullied or killed.

the money and welfare is not enough to stop people if they have had poor parenting, which is all too common in rich households. i've seen parents who have no input with their children, they just purchase them expensive gifts and give them endless supplies of money in the hope of this keeping their child happy, but this does not constitute being a good parent if you do not back it up with anything. all this does is produce spoiled children who become adults and think that they can do what they want. this really is the root of a lot of problems. do you think that it's the parents that now require extra education on how to parent their children?
