Shaunsgal, you and I are on a very similar timeline. They took forever with our cases at the California service center! Anyway they have received and entered our ds230 last week, and now they have sent me an email saying that there are no interview dates available, but I am hoping that I will hear about an interview date in the next couple of weeks. I hope your date comes soon too!

I hope so too. I am tired of postponing my wedding date. I have moved it from August to every month thereafter. I will be happy if it happens this year. I applied in Feb. and was very naive in thinking everything will be done by now. Anyway, hang in there? I will update you if I get an interview date. Are you thinking of going for the interview or will you let your fiance go alone. I am still deciding.

I am going to go if I can (I am due to give birth to our son Jan 5th and can only fly until Dec 7th) and if I were you I would try to go if you can. I have read on here of them not approving visas and asking for further proof of relationship when the fiance is not present. Better safe than sorry...

Congratulations young lady! Are you working or able to stay at home and await your son's arrival. Unfortunately, I am unable to have any more children, so I live vicariously through everyone's pregnancy. LOL By the way, I think I will try and make it to the interview, but my main concern is to be able to fly back with him. He is more nervous about the hassle with flying, customs, etc. than by the interview. We will see.

I am working as a bar manager but am out right now because of chicken pox (horibble! I am so itchy and uncomfortable). I know what you are saying about wanting to fly back with him...my SO has never left Jamaica and not only will it be a harrowing experience for him to go through immigration and customs and flight changes alone, but I really want to have the experience with him. Well, I had to choose one or the other (if I even get the interview date in time!) and I decided that getting him the visa without any problems was the most important thing.

If only they would give it to him at the time of the interview!

Anyway, good luck. I hope you can both go to the interview AND fly back with him.

You have chicken pox in your last trimester? I had chicken pox in my 2nd trimester with my daughter. It was horrible. They sent me to a neo-natal infectious disease specialist who walked in so draped in protective gear it scared the crud out of me. Then, she proceeded to tell me how Molly could be born with club feet cause of the pox. I freaked out for months. Turned out, there are no lasting issues. But, at the time, I was freaking out.

My 3 year old son then caught them from me.

Hang in there.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

It's good to hear from somebody who has had chicken pox while pregnant. I'm glad to hear your baby turned out ok. They have been treating me a little bit like a freak with the plague, and they wont even let me come in to see the doctor for ten days to make sure the baby is doing ok. I am a little freaked, but I am telling myself that more likely than not my son will turn out just fine. Anyway I am due for some good news.

So, Jomo's girl, if you had to do it now, would you go down for the interview, or do the same thing and fly back with him?

Oh, and i found (thanks to the advice of the wonderful people on this forum) that calling the Department of state is the best way to get updates on your case. You will be able to find out from them when your ds230 has been logged into the system and when your fiance is eligible for an interview and they will know when the interview has been scheduled before your fiance even receives the letter. I'm not sure if you knew all of this yet...I didn't know until last week.

The phone number is 202-663-1225

Thanks for that invaluable piece of advice. I will call them in the a.m. tomorrow. There is light at the end this tunnel. Just being cynical. Anyway good luck to us all.

They told me it was really bad to get the chicken pox in the first trimester. They were leary of the 2nd. They said the 3rd was better. It's all about how developed the fetus is. I remember how crazy they treated me. I hated that part. It's what scared me. Your son will be just fine. And, if you are lucky, he'll never catch the chicken pox cause of your antibodies and getting the shot later on.

If I had to do it all over again......knowing what I know......I'd do it exactly the same way. We came through Miami and then did not take the brown envelope or do the secondary interview with him. I caught it right away and argued to go back in there. Glad I did. Plus, that airport is huge. He had never flown before. It would not have been easy for him.

And, the excitement of his face was priceless the entire time. I would not have wante to miss it.

Thanks for the info, I have been emailing the Kingston embassy for an appointment date to drop off the Ds230 but I keep getting that automated response. I am not even sure if they received our file it was sent last week and the 603# is not providing me with any information on the delivery. So I'll try that # and see what happens.

Angel,

Where does your SO live? Just wait for a reply, sometimes it takes a week, but they will answer you. NVC won't have any delivery information, but they can give you the KINGSTON number. Do you have that information? If so, did you include that in the e-mail to the embassy?

On the link for U.S citizen it said that visa question should be sent to the Consularkingst@ However, on the other link about visa it said one was for NIV and the other of IV.

You will always get the automated 1st time, then they will answer you. You also have the option for mailing it - just use a courier you can track like DHL or Fedex.
