I feel that Sarah Palin is an embarrassment to all American women...I'm a middle class schmuck but she hardly represents me...she only represents a particular type of middle class person.

As Krikit noted, she is very confident based on her limited experience. For example, could she negotiate with Palestinians and Isrealis successfully? Would Putin regard her seriously or think that she is another "maverick" joke like Bush?

I am confident that Obama has the poise and skill to be able to do these things. He may not be as experienced as McCain is in politics, but poise and skills are a huge part of the job. Sarah Palin has nothing to fall back on...no poise, no skill and no experience.

she's an embarrassment to ALL women. i am embarrassed by her too. i also bet obama knows that spain is an ally and isn't in south america  mcfail.

So I somehow missed this thread with all the hoopla going on at home/work right now, but since it's my post that is referenced in the OP, I'll just say this:

How on earth does me not liking Sarah Palin as a potential leader of my country make me my own worst enemy? Seriously. I don't believe she is intellectually capable of holding her own if not given a card with notes for a canned response. I don't think she knows jack-sh!t about foreign policy (and I'm sorry but closeness to Russia doesn't cut it for me). I mean, the majority of the posters on this board probably have more travel experience than she, and yes, that does matter when you may be leading a country. I don't agree with her values on education or abortion (and I'm pro-life).

I don't have a problem with her religion as long as she's not letting those in her religion use her for their own purposes. I believe that any candidate of faith is a liar if they say their religion or faith doesn't have some role in their politicking. I don't think you can separate values in that manner. But, as long as she isn't letting her religion or her church run the show, then I don't have a problem with it. People had a problem with JFK because he was Catholic, we resist what is new.

So, when I say I don't want this woman running my country, I mean, this woman.

Do not assume that means I wouldn't vote for a woman.

The reasoning seems to be that women should have some sort of solidarity and support other women (specifically THAT woman - because she's in an unprecedented position, for a woman) when they break new boundaries in our society.

Naturally you could make the same argument about Barack Obama - that black people should support him because he's black and because doing so somehow advances "black interests".

Its a silly argument really. Of course its based on a false premise - that Palin is "brilliant" and savvy. She isn't - hence the rejection of her.

Because Ferraro didn't win.

But she still ran as the VP candidate.... People conveniently forget that. Or maybe, it's because she was Democrat?

That could be.

Look at the abuse Clinton got from GOP supporters - even before she announced her candidacy... More than a few people here painting her as a communist.

As soon as Obama won the nomination - suddenly Clinton was an "across the aisle" centrist, and Obama the "most liberal senator ever" and variously a Socialist and Communist.

Uh, yep.

Well, a few more weeks and this will be over. At this point, I just want no more political stuff at all.
