akdiver...are you a monk?

You don't use your cellphone very much, you don't send text messages very much...please tell me you drink, smoke, or at least have sex (with another person) B)

Don't drink, don't smoke - but I occasionally have sex with another person.

WOW, you must save a lot of money....for real.
Well, I would - except I have other expensive hobbies.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

But I still dont know why phone company have to charge INCOMING call and text??
Because they charge one person for sending a message. They charge the other person for receiving the message. I dunno why this is any big mystery or why people complain about it.

It's kind of ironic I guess. I bet I hate cell phones and cell phone companies more than ANY of you. I never even had a cell phone before I met my wife - and if not for her, I still wouldn't own one. However, I have no problem with their policies or business model. Hell, if they could find a way to charge people $200 per call and get away with it, I'd say GO FOR IT! (:

But I dont even use my phone very much so I just going to shup up

Just chiming in: I use text messaging all the time. It's very convenient. I RARELY make phone calls.

However, my issue with texting and cell phones is that many people have poor manners using them in public places or in academic settings. They allow them in schools?! Sure, I understand it should be kept for emergency use, but how often do kids follow the "emergency policy"? Not so. I do not loathe cell phones, but the people who use them inappropriately. Phones don't force themselves into the driver's hands while driving -- the driver picked it up! Don't blame the phones itself!

Every phone service companies have different plans -- Limited or Unlimited, etc. My plan does not charge me for incoming messages, even Internationally -- just outgoing texts. Sometimes one has to "shop" around for the best plan/match.

texting has it's place. It makes it easier to send precise messages. Like an address.

It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

...so move to Thailand.

If the staff were allowed to beat the #### out of a kid every time he/she got caught using a phone inappropriately, I think you would find the policy is well adhered to.

I do not loathe cell phones, but the people who use them inappropriately.
I hate both (:

The reason why I have a cell phone, my son gave me his old one when he got a new one, haven't quite made it through the 110 page manual yet, but it has an alarm clock, reminder calendar, four function calculator, takes pictures, sends and receives text message, and photos. Did hear there is an ongoing crackdown on kids taking these things inside a locker room. But my phone does not have GPS, does not play video games nor MP3's US Cellular would love to have me download. Oh and download ringtones for only a zillion bucks each. My favorite ringtone is the one that sounds like a phone ringing.

It does have a speaker function and that voice command stuff, so can talk to my wife to get her location with the phone sitting on my lap while driving. Our town recently banned all cell phone usage while driving with a 70 buck fine the first time you are caught, so not a good idea to hold one up to your ear. We don't exactly talk about the weather, just meet me at the side door at 4:40, just say, see ya, and hang up. Since I am a pilot, pleased the city still let's me use the aircraft radio while flying, nice to call about winds, barometric pressure, active runway, and traffic. Is possible to fly a plane do the landing check list, and talk on the radio at the same time. If you can't, won't get a license. Maybe they should test driver's while yaking on a cell phone.

Venezuela is the same way, when your prepaid card runs out, still can receive calls, so should I go to Venezuela? Ah, will when the get rid of Hugo, never gets colder than 60*F or warmer that 80*F, fresh fruits and vegetables available year round, and some of the finest Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at.

Not all companies charge for this. Gotta do your research of what you need/want in a plan before you sign up

Only reason why I have one is for contact with my wife. It makes logistics of meeting times, store purchases and other things easier. It's also a way she can reach me if she is stuck in a ditch or something. However, recently, I gave her my Palm T|X PDA and I am now attempting to use my phone's calender function as well.

Me too. It sounds like an old-style bell telephone. It's perfect.

Me too! I'm paying by the minute, so I keep it short (:

Maybe. I mean, if it is cell phone paradise, well, you have to have you priorities (: Edited by akdiver
