Transition Lenses

Hey, its time to get new glasses. I'm thinking about getting Transitions lenses. I would love to hear opinions about them from people who have used them. Thanks!

I'm thinking you mean the colour changing lenses.

Personally I dislike them, they generally darken faster than they lighten making driving into the shade or into a tunnel an unpleasant experience. The lenses also yellow with age and look terrible. This may not be a problem for people who have to change their prescription regularly but I rarely have any change and like to be able to keep and wear my old glasses years after they were replaced/

Hmm....Well, I have transition lenses. Actually, when you wear them it doesn't get dark while you're outside. Only opposite side of the glass gets darker when somebody else views it. But, when you wear it, it is almost as clear as the day. You hardly notice any color change. It's not the same thing as polaroids or sunglasses. Wearing sunglasses is totally different than transitions since sunglasses will be dark while you wear them as oppose to transition where eventhough it changes color, it will provide you with the same view just like regular glasses.

I would recommend to use as much cosmetic features on the lenses as possible such as scratch coating, anti-reflective coating, etc...that your insurance covers. If the co-pay is $15 for a feature that requires it, look into it to see if it's worth the money. Another thing is that when you select your frames, it is extremely recommend to not get the frames are design to bend. If you accidentally bend it the wrong way, you''ll feel sorry to ever having it unless if you have the flexon made with titanium alloy.

The recommended frame is titanium because they are super lightweight, and are strong. But, if you like the gunmetal frames or plastic frames because of cosmetics it's up to you. I personally don't like gunmetal because they are very brittle. And plastic will probably crack if you use long enough.

I got them. $91. Worthless for me as they don't work wearing a hat or driving the car.

I love my Transition Leanses, I have had them about 2 years now and have no issues with them. I did try the older style transitions years back but like other I hated that it took so long for them to change back to clear. I am pleased to say that the new one dont have that problem and they do protect your eyes from the UV rays, But they were never intended to be used as driving glasses or sun glasses.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I was they were like sunglasses. I usually get the ones with the clip on sunglasses, my last pair lasted a while but were horribly scratched so I was thinking transitions might be the answer.
