John McCain would pay for his health plan with major reductions to Medicare and Medicaid, a top aide said, in a move that independent analysts estimate could result in cuts of $1.3 trillion over 10 years to the government programs.

The Republican presidential nominee has said little about the proposed cuts, but they are needed to keep his health-care plan "budget neutral," as he has promised.

That's gonna be a winner with the Florida folks.

Let's see: He gave up on Michigan. He's trashing his odds in Florida with this type of message and he's losing his grip on Ohio. I start to think that he really wants to lose this thing.

McSame is really for equality.

But cutting medicaid and medicare so severely, he'll make sure there are lots of effectively uninsured old people -- now most of the uninsured are working stiffs.

No matter who wins, budgets will be cut and people will be uninsured. It's not the federal government's responsibility to fund such programs anyway and it really can't afford to anymore.

Sorry, Barry can't keep his ridiculous promises either. Americans and their government need to get past their attitude of entitlements. That jig is up.

Chuck, whatever that link reveals, it doesn't change the fact that this is a message that will cost him Florida's 27 electoral votes. He's done.

It is clear that McCain would cut the budget on the back of the middle class and poor.

Obama would cut it by taxing the rich.

I know which side of that divide I'm on.

Most Americans do. Which is why they reject McSame / Bush-Palin.

Me too.

Mine.

But yeah, fat chance in hell of Obama growing a pair and implementing what's needed most -- universal health care. His plan isn't even partially universal. :(

True, it isn't going to be what it should be or what I would want it to be. Takes more than DC can handle and the profiteers of the fcuked up mess we have today are going to go all out on this one again. In fact, they already are. But the approach of a Obama administration is going to have the right focus and it'll get the country closer to where it needs to be. The people need to lay it on their congressional reps as well. This country could do so much better with so much less spent.

Obama: focus == middle class and poor

McCain: focus == 250k+

This isn't rocket science, people.

Of course budget priorities will change as circumstances change. What you want is a President who focuses on you. We've had 8 years of focus on the guys who make 250k+. I think it's our turn now.

So all the retirees and disabled who need healthcare the most should be dumped onto the street and told you are SOL without any way of getting a new healthcare policy... Perhaps that works in 3rd world countries, but not in 1st world. We are all ready a laughing stock, lets just add to it. It must be nice to be so completely self absorbed that you don't need to care about anyone else.

The self-absorbed are those who are always expecting for a handout from the taxpayers. and they come from all economic classes.
