Hey all-just a quick question. I'll be moving at the end of the month and I'm aware that I need to file a FORM AR-11 online and on paper (is that correct?) with USCIS for my address to be updated and my husband needs to file the form I-865. My question, however, relates to form AR-11, where it asks to indicate "I am in the United States as a: write your answer here". I know that once you apply to adjust status, most non-immigrant statuses are voided- which is the case with my J-1 status. Is "applicant for adjustment of status" an appropriate response? Or should I put my original status- which is exchange visitor? Any ideas and experiences are welcome.

The AR-11 form I used had about 4 check boxes. I used the one for 'other' and wrote 'AOS applicant' in by hand. That seems to have worked - they changed my address and my files were 'touched'.

(I called the 1-800 line because my I-485 was not viewable (even after 6 months) and changed my address verbally with an IO (not the CS that first answer), but they also suggested that I needed to file the AR-11 by mail, so I did.) Received a letter back acknowledging receipt of my address change. :star:

Thanks so much. One more thing- did you put a date for this question:

If not a Permanent Resident,my stay in the U.S. expires on:(Date - mm/dd/yyyy)

I put the date on the latest I-94 I received - when I last entered using my Advance Parole document - where it says 'Paroled until mm/dd/yyyy'.

Hi,

I am also trying to fill in an AR-11 online but have struck a problem. I tried entering the I-94 date for the question 'if not a permanent resident, my stay in the U.S. expires on:' but because the date is in the past it wouldn't let me proceed.

The only expiration date in the future I have is for my EAD, so I'm tempted to put that just so it will let me submit the form. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Why not try filling it out by hand? Just print the form and then write the date in black ink.

Yeah I think that might be a better option, thanks. I was hoping to get it all done online but I guess I'll have to do it the old fashioned way.
