Over a million lost jobs this year so far - with last month adding 195,000 to the total.

For those who are smug about this whole thing - you really have no idea what may come your way.

Hard times are definitely ahead...

Nonsense!

The McCain campaign has finally figured out how to win this thing and they've begun execution of their winning strategy!

The American people are saved!

I would like to see how two lawyers are going to fix this. After all the legal industry is a net loss, a huge waste of money for a country.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Well on that basis - I think lawyers would probably get on a bit better than moose-hunters and ex-fighter pilots ;)

I agree, lawyers are teh suck.

I'd rather hand over the reins to an absent minded, reckless and undisciplined veteran and his valley girl sidekick!

Considering Democrats pushed sub prime loans for minorities and low income households. Thanks but no thanks.

They took 2 years to approve a merger between 2 satellite radio companies but a week to dish out $700+ billion of money America simply does not have. China must seriously be laughing all the way to the bank..

You're preaching to the choir. Everyone knows the financial industry lobbyists and the guys at the Fed and Fannie/Freddie were all a bunch of Kumbaya-singin' lefties. Well, the lefties don't but then again delusion is part of being a leftist, isn't it?

Heck, the VJ leftie posse probably doesn't even realize that the bailout was passed in both houses without a single Republican vote.

Fvckin lemmings!

My exit strategy will coincide with finally removing conditions. Then I can go back to renting out more houses to Britt and Indian immigrants flocking to Australia.

They irony hey AJ and Six..

Edit: You guys might need to marry me for a visa. After all Australia does recognize same sex marriage....

The bailout (whether or not you agree with it) was "emergency" legislation, reflecting the nature of the financial precipice we suddenly find ourselves looking over.

A satellite radio merger doesn't really have much urgency.

Irony, indeed.

After all, there are no new Indian immigrants arriving in the US anymore. Last time I was in New Delhi there was a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge line in front of the Ozzie embassy and nary a soul in front of the US embassy :innocent:

No that would be the "funny coincidence" form of irony that isn't really irony at all, strictly speaking...

Its not like either of us are going to be renting from you anyway. Neither is it the case that we are somehow representative of our respective countries.

So I'm not sure what point you're making there - your politics are somehow validated because some other British and Indian people rent from you?

Ptthpt! ####### reasoning.

Yeah that must be it. Financial gurus like Pelosi must have thought long and hard about this one.

So how many of you will be spending more for the inevitable Christmas shopping season. That, I remind many of you, is when retail goes from the red to the black.

We have decided that we have enough "stuff." So instead we're doing a family dinner out at a nice restaurant and then going to see either Handel's "Messiah" or the PNB's "Nutcracker."

Although that is still fueling money into our economy, we just don't see the point in buying useless ####### for the kids. They'll each get something small (books for my daughter, college stuff for my son, etc) but the "big" gift is our family time. Most people think that's hokey, but we rarely have time (or the money) for big outings like this.

Any Indians coming to the US now for a job are just stupid. Whereas they will earn good $$$ if they go to AUS.
