My boss now, she's nice and all but she gets a little hyper at times and she'll give me like 5 tasks at once, and then ask me what I'm working on.

I know there's a lot of politics at my work now between administrative staff, but I honestly try my best to stay out of it. I don't care who doesn't like who, and who busted the copier, or who said what to you know who. If it doesn't apply to me directly, I don't care.

Its my place of work, I don't treat it as my life. Which is something I have never done before, work was always my life before. Not any more.

Looks like you just learned a lot from dealing with a boss from hell! I still have to learn how not too let office politics stress me out, cause I do tend to take things to heart... but that's one good attitude you have going on girl!

So I had to make this thread because my supervisor constantly does things to bother me. For example, she manages the money in our department and made a screw up in the paper work for a big contract. The guy from the company called to ask when his check would be ready and I said she would give him a call back. She made me give him a call back so then he started asking me all these questions about stuff I don't know about. Then after hearing my trouble on the phone, she was like. "ill pick it up..."

Sure you will pick it up now after I get accosted by the customer.

She also sucks back her mucous all morning long and doesn't realize how loud it is and how much it annoys the entire office.

Any other stories?

Well, the space is not enough to vent everything I have at work..

I just had bloody ears, everytime I heard my supervisors talking cussing in every sentences that came out on their mouth.. We are sitting just 2 inches away.. And it is really annoying!. Well, I just leave everything at work when I go home. I dont let stress bother me and affect my daily life.. Yes we need to make money but we dont let stress affect our life..

My job is so much less stressful now in comparison to my last job, even if I do so much more work. In my last job there was something going on between the office manager/boss' assistant and the boss. Every one knew about it. One day his wife came to work in a complete tirade. She was screaming and yelling. SOmeone called the police. He was trying to get her to close his office door but she refused and said she wanted EVERYONE to hear what a horrible father and husband he was.

She then smashed our glass coffee table in the main lobby. Then went out to the parking lot where she took brand new tile that my boss had gotten for a job out of the back seat of his very expensive car. She threw the tile all over his car, making some pretty big dents. Then she got in her car and proceeded to almost hit my then, brand new car. Then she told the police to go eff themselves and took off.

Believe it or not, I still worked there for about 3 months after that

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

It seems working for hotels provides the most interesting work environments. There is always someone screwing another employee, someone stealing, someone being the company snitch. To be quite honest, I can't wait to immigrate. I somehow got the managerial shaft. I was working M-F day shifts. I now work any random day on overnights, and evenings. My GM and manager above me are screwing, my direct manager doesn't do any work, dumps on me and wonders why it doesn't get down. lol Kind of hard to do things that involve guest relations at 11:00 P.M.. If there is one thing I have learned, put your head down and work. I'm forecasting a maximum of 8-12 more months here. I'll tolerate it for that long, if by chance my visa doesn't get approved in that timeline. Then I'll just have to quit a find a job to keep my sanity.

In terms of stories, there is always stories. A dishwasher walked in on my two higher ups getting it on in a walk in cooler, and a cook walked in on them in an office, and they have sleep overs in the bar. Yet, they seem to think no one knows :S. The bar manager has had sex with majority of his staff, but that is nothing surprising. Our restaurant manager has a lawsuit against him for sexual harassment. The rest. mgr.'s brother has been arrested for picking up hookers in ambulances (he was a paramedic). Our restaurant supervisor came in drunk and still high on coke Tuesday morning. Our accountant goes on incessantly about how she likes to be titty ######. All the while they beat me down saying I'm too young to get married and I have thought this through, and that they want to call Homeland Security and tell them my engagement and relationship is not real. *Sigh* At least I can say my job is never dull.

Oh hey, and while working the overnight at the front desk on Saturday. I had a boy from the university football rookie party vomit in the lobby wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a halter top. Some other guy pee'd on a hiabiscus plant in the lobby, and a man had all his teeth kicked in *thumbs up*. And to think, if I wasn't getting married to an American citizen I would be applying to be a cop by now. lol

What can I say? I have a gift. No, that's a lie lol I have a job that upsets my family and my fiance. But it pays well. And with a former solider on disability, I need to bring all the money I can to the states with me.

lol Thanks for the well wishes. I'm going to be as patient as possible and give it a year. If when twelve months pass and still nothing, I'll find another job...hopefully without the same work environment. But hey! There is crazy situations and people every where. And this post definitely solidifies my opinion.

In any case, if you start missing it after movign to the States, look for a job in hotel sector as well. Almost all my US internships where at the hotels, and I was surprised to learn how much everyone knows about everyone, and what shady stuff goes on during the night shifts :)
