I was told by a freind that has done this before that they will always require past tax records. It's not listed in the step by steps. Has anyone else had to do this or is this something that does come but after the I130 has been filed?

You will need your tax returns for the Affadavit of Support (AOS).

Typically, at or about the interview step.

Tax records are required when I-130 is at NVC and at the interviews for K visas. No need for initial filing of either. No affidavit of supports either.

It also helps provide evidence for a bonafide marriage if you file a joint tax return after marrying.
