I-130 question

The I-130 has a question, "If filing for you husband/wife, give last address at which you lived together." We have never lived together. I will only be visiting for 3 weeks, so what do I put there? Do I put SO's address since I'll be staying there for 3 weeks. I guess I worry because I have read elsewhere that the interviewers come and interview neighbors and since I really won't be LIVING there it might cause a problem.

Whidbey, I think that's only if you have lived with your spouse. Since many people marry either here in the US or in the SO's home country and then return separately to file the K3 I imagine it's not a problem for you.

Good luck.

Newlyweds are held to different standards than people who have been married for years (perhaps I am making assumptions about your relationship). Just make sure you have records of how you communicate on a regular basis, pictures of the two of you together and perhaps an affidavit from both a member of his family and yours that attests that your marital relationship is bonafide.

Pictures of you with his family are a plus, especially in front of landmarks. Pictures of your families together, if they are available, are even better. You can always attach a sheet to your I-130 with a brief history and explanation of your relationship if there if something you want to clarify. Don't give them any reason to doubt your marriage.

Best wishes on your journey,

Thai Mom

In your case the answer to the question is "none" or if you prefer, "none" followed by "We have not lived together."

You may find "none" the correct answer for many questions in the process.
