The OP is basically a compaint, justified imho, that someone was bashing Americans, but the point above is that in turn bashing Arabs not only doesn't solve the problem it's doing the same thing as the woman in the OP did. It's not really funny either. Was the woman wrong? Of course! Should the OP have to apologize merely due to her age? Oh heck no! Is it justified to bash all Arabs because of this one ignoramus? Oh heck no!

I think I can shed some light on the subject. Ta me whosit has a problem with me on the expats forum. Now she is bringing it here. Her response was addressed to my comment that I made that Kat cracked me up. The problem is that she misenterpreted what I was laughing about. The part of Kat's post that made me laugh was this:

"Oh and every body , please forgive me. I am in grieving. Tell the Iraqi that when I am strangling her Syrian friend"

I was glad to see that despite all that Kat is going through that she is finding her sense of humor.

That Syrian woman opened the can of worms by making generalizations in the first place. Secondly, she showed a lot of insensitivity by saying, "you don't have any children, how would you know how to raise one?" Like you said, you may not have borne a child, but growing up you had some exposure (as we all have to growing up in households with babies).

I really don't see why this Syrian woman thought you were rude (and became tearful) because you refused to stand there and listen to her #######.

No need to be sorry, just get high and laugh at the whole thing, cause tomorrow may not come for some of us. Life is too damn short to sweat the small stuff, and believe me girl this is just small stuff. Plus it gets my mind off the things that I do really need to sweat
