Hello everybody,

I have received Pkt. 3 on September 25, 2008 but have not sent it in yet.

I would like to send it in next week.

Now my question:

Do I only have to sent in the following?

- DS-230 Part I

- DS-156 (twice)

- DS-156K

- DS-157 and

- document checklist

And DS-156 and DS-156K are not to be signed?

But do I have to sign the other documents before I send them or at the Consulate?

It says: "Failure to return the DS-230-I promptly will delay the processing of the application".

So will they delay it, because I have not send it in yet?

And...it says:

DO NOT SEND IN ANY OF THESE DOCUMENTS!!

- Passport

- Birth Certificates

- ...

- ...

But on one of the above mentioned forms it says that these documents have to be attached.

Have you attached them or have you not?

And on the checklist you have to check the box before each item if you have it ready for the interview.

Now my question:

My fiancé has not sent me the Affidavit of Support yet, but he will next week.

Has anybody already sent Pkt. 3 before you had the Affidavit of Support?

Because I could already check it and send it in, because I will have the Affidavit by the time of the interview for sure, but you are not supposed to do it :whistle:

Have a wonderful day!

From VJ Information : http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...p;cty=Frankfurt

In "What forms should be send back to the Consulate?" I dun see there is Affidavit of Support on the list.

From Germany Embassy: http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/kv_processing.html

It asks you to send back

* form DS-230 Part I (pdf)

* form DS-156 (in duplicate)

* form DS-156K (pdf) (only required for fiancé(e) visa applicants)

* form DS-157 (pdf)

* document checklist.

Note: Please do not sign the DS-156 and DS-156K (pdf) (only required for fiancé(e) visa applicants). The forms must be signed before a consular officer on the day of the visa interview. Failure to return the DS-230-I promptly will delay the processing of the application.

What is the next step?

Assemble all of the relevant documents required in support of your application and forward the document checklist (pdf) to the Immigrant Visa Unit. Don’t mail the documents to the Consulate! You will be required to furnish the original of all documents and one copy on the day of the formal visa interview and medical examination (pdf).

• Evidence of Support: An applicant for a K or V visa is required to file an Affidavit of Support, form I-134 at the time of the interview proofing that he or she is not likely at any time to become a public charge.

It means you don't have to submit Affidavit of Support when you send back your packet 3 response.

Has anybody already sent Pkt. 3 before you had the Affidavit of Support?

Because I could already check it and send it in, because I will have the Affidavit by the time of the interview for sure, but you are not supposed to do it :whistle:

From the website it says "On receipt of all requested forms and the document checklist (pdf), the Immigrant Visa Unit will perform any additional processing which may be required and advise you concerning the scheduling of the medical examination (pdf) and the appointment for the formal visa interview."

So it means you can only obtain your packet 4, medical examination and interview date after you return ALL of the documents mentioned above

According to the past timeline for Vj fellers from Germany, you have approx a month before your interview. If you able to gather your fiancé's Affidavit of Support by next week, you can go ahead to check the box and send them in. Be sure he got his Affidavit of Support (I-134 form) notarized by a US Notary Public with all required supporting evidence together (such as employment letter, few of recent paycheck stub of his salary, recent year (some USE requires last 3 yrs) of his W2 for interview. Also better make a copy for all those evidence as you will need them when you file for AOS.

Wish you the best of luck with your medical & interview in advance! :thumbs:
