There were the people who claimed that if "whites" didn't vote for Obama, it meant they were racist.

Er, pointing out the extreme few who want to call those who don't vote for Obama racist is like relating Pat Robertson's judgment upon the people of New Orleans the prevailing belief of Republicans, since he is one.

There were also the two young adults walking through my neighborhood pulling down McCain posters to be replaced by Obama ones (they clearly didn't account for the possibility that the homeowners might just remove them - duh). And finally, the woman in Giant (pikey foodstore) who had gone to the trouble of having a t-shirt printed that said...."Obama & BIEDEN 2008". I just have nothing in common with these people (thankfully). Its like watching something on tv where you feel embarrassed just by watching.

These things are all a part of living a part of a country with 300 million people. You'll find stupid ones everywhere.

ok....so I'm not exactly a fan of Obama and Biden, but I'm also not excited by McCain and Palin. I am however prepared for an attack on this one..... maybe it is just DC, but Obama supporters here seem to share their IQ with their shoe size. I don't buy any of that... you are going to have ignorant people supporting Obama & ignorant people supporting McCain, so to act like this matters is silly. The vast majority of people voting are "Joe six pack" or a "soccer mom"... some will vote for Obama & some for McCain. Just like Obama & Biden, McCain & Palin have met the requirements to run for their respective offices. Is it November 4th yet? I just want this to be over!

Well this matters to me. I simply don't want to be associated with these morons. If Obama does become the next President, these people will actually believe their efforts have helped and that will just encourage them. Thank god I am separated from them by a wide expanse of river. On the other hand, I do believe that McCain will probably ban dogs under 12 inches high.

But aren't there crazy people affiliated to every political party?

Even the Green Party has those nuts who release livestock and throw red paint on fur coats.

And remember the republicans had people who voted for Bush... Nut jobs in both parties. We need more major parties... Perhaps one in the middle? I hate having to pick between one of the most liberal senators and someone who in the last 8 years has become more and more conservative. I wish McCain of 2000 was running :(

No, only certain Barack Obama supporters are beyond the pail and qualify as morons. The women who would vote for Palin just because she's a woman even if they don't have a clue what she represents, much less care are clearly the salt of the earth.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

McCain is dead - now there's only McSame. Becoming President is more important to him than being the stand up guy that people across the political spectrum used to look up to. It's sad that he had to sacrifice so much to be worthy of the GOP nomination.

I think McCain became a lot less attractive a proposition when he selected Palin as a means to appeal to religious conservatives. McCain was never really a part of that crowd and he was lambasted by his own party for his lack of conservative credentials.

Of course its par for the course to prostitute your values to obtain high-office - which is why I suspect people who care about such things probably aren't the ones running for office.

Soon as McCain took up the 2008 campaign he knew Bush wouldn't be capturing the 2008 gay-hating conservative vote, unless Bush suspended/changed the Constitution before November so there wasn't any elections. The only advantage McCain had over guys like Huckabee, who are excessively evangelical at heart, not by political pandering, is some people who called themselves "moderates" liked his somewhat-inconsistent ability to work across the table. However, the more McCain's record is analyzed, especially on things like foreign policy, the more he looks just like Bush. Wasn't the only exception to the detainee rule? Or did he bend over for that one too? I only vividly recall SCOTUS saying there's that pesky Geneva Convention to follow.

He supported the bailout of course... More than that there was a quote from him last week (just after the first bill was knocked down) where he indicated that the Treasury could go ahead and start creatively spending taxpayer's money to buy up mortgages without Congressional approval.

How is that bitter? I know women like this and they scare me as much as the dumbasses who can't spell Biden! Because, as you said britty, if McCain wins, these women (and those men who say "dude she's hawt!") will actually believe their efforts have helped and that will just encourage them.

It goes both ways. The loonies on both sides scare me. It's pretty much a lose-lose situation.

I merely thought your post sounded a little bitter. I agree that there are loonies on both sides but honestly its the idiots you want to watch. To be fair, I haven't seen any McCain supporters pulling the antics the Obama ones seem to think are acceptable, at least not in VA, DC or MD. It just seems like Obama has more total morons rooting for him than McCain has. At the end of the day, regardless of who ends up President, I don't see my life changing very much. I will still live in the same house, work the same job (although Obama will no doubt try to tax me even more), and have the same living standards that I do now. Nothing much will change for the idiots either. Their belief that Obama will "give" them money and jobs is pure stupidity. They have no idea what Obama stands for, and their blind loyalty extends to breaking the law to see that he gets elected. Really I should pity them but I really couldn't give a sh!t about any one of them.
