Yes, it's me again...hehe...

This question comes from my fiance though.... :luv:

Do the copies of the birth certificate and divorce paperwork that are filed with the I129F need to be in english? If so, does anyone know if the embassy in his country would translate them into english for us?

Thanks again!

Hugs, Liz

Yes, they must be and no the Embassy won't translate them for you. There are instructions for how to certify the translations. Anybody fluent in both languages may do so.

I must say, I have great respect for The Netherlands but am personally offended by you depicting the desecration of both the US and Netherlands flags in your Avatar.

This is what the document checklist says:

9. TRANSLATIONS AND CERTIFIED COPIES: All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified English translations. Translations must be certified by a competent translator. A certified copy is a photocopy of a filed document, legal or other, in its entirety (everything within a staple) that is sworn to be a true copy by a court clerk or solicitor. If the staple is removed then the copy loses its certified status.

I Had to have my german police certificate translated into English - I found a translation service locally and got a receipt for the service to prove I had done this done professionally.

OP isnt asking for approval fo avatar - to be fair there are plenty of similar avators using 2 flags spliced together - are you going to seek to give your opinion to each and every "offender"?

Hi Liz,

In answer to you question: they can do that to! My certificate of being single was in english, he just has to ask it to the officer of the "gemeentehuis".

Good luck and like Els already sais: if you need to know more, let me know!

Claudeth had a German police report that she forgot to get translated and it delayed her visa for almost a month. Claudeth went to the German embassy in Manila and they gave her some businesses that were approved for translating documents. You could try going to the embassy of the country issuing the documents, maybe they also have an approved translator list.
