The only reason why VW posted this thread is to watch the 'libruls' dance to her tune. What an attention #######. I've been away for three hours and ither than the predicatable blaming, bickering and name-calling, there is still NOTHING offered to explain Obama's appeal over other candidates. What is up with that? You would think that with all the bellyaching about Palin - which implies that people do have standards - there would be some standards for prefering Obama.

How's this for qualifications:

1) Obama has defeated the Clintons (who were supposed to be undefeatable), and

2) With less than a month to go, he is 7 points ahead of McCain in the polls.

If that doesn't sound like a skilled politician leading a well-run campaign, I don't know what is.

A well-run campaign augurs a well-run government.

McCain's campaign thus far has been a total disaster. He contradicted himself a dozen times

during different interviews over time with regard to issues such as Iraq, economics, war, taxation.

"The fundamentals of our economy are strong", "the American people are better off than they

were eight years ago", now it's the exact opposite. Two months ago he was pro-deregulation,

now he's against it. Maybe he's too old to remember his own positions, but it's still incredibly

embarrassing to witness.

Bottom Line: Approximately 50% of the country will vote for Obama (give or take a few percentage points) & there's a pretty good chance he will be the next president of the United States. This irritates you to no end, so to make you feel better about your own opinions you chose to think of all Obama supporters as stupid left wing whackjobs who are incapable of independent thought. Of course this is a ridiculous assertion, but then again you have never cared much for facts or opposing views.

Oh yea and to answer your original question "what qualifies Obama to President of the US" the US Constitution, Article II, Section 1 states "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States."

What I do see is an effort to prevent any discussion of his shady connections, how he won't release his medical or academic records, how he flip flops on issues. We just see things differently, and I don't like how his activities are not well examined by a fawning media.

We have been here before with the polls. Kerry was supposed to win, according to the polls. So was Gore. I'm convinced that polls don't work like they used to due to the prevelence of unlisted cell phones and people comfort level with lying. I bet White Guilt will fail in the polling booth, too. McCain lost the election when he nominated Sarah Palin. He was supposed to be the "safe"

candidate to Obama's "wild card". The nomination of Sarah Palin flipped that on its head -
