What Qualifies Obama to be President of the US?

That's only a lame excuse. I'm not the first one who has received the libs' blank stare when asked to explain their alligence to the novice Senator. They can be awfully verbose about who they hate, but silent about who they like? No, this is not about me. It's about how no one knows why they want Obama. No one knows. It has been confirmed. No one can take them seriously, except themselves now.

I've tried to make this easy for you twice now. Maybe third time's a charm. The post below is an answer to your question. It's just not one you like.

WOW! :wow:

I've been away for three hours and ither than the predicatable blaming, bickering and name-calling, there is still NOTHING offered to explain Obama's appeal over other candidates. What is up with that? You would think that with all the bellyaching about Palin - which implies that people do have standards - there would be some standards for prefering Obama.

But NO, apparently NOT. There seems to be no coherent reason to vote for Obama except that he is a very liberal ** and requires no other discernment beyond that.

I get it now.

How about this:

News flash: Millions of people who will vote for Obama are not liberals. They are from the middle class- Joe six pack & soccer moms as Palin would put it. The vast majority are not elitist, out of touch left wingers. The fraction of the Obama supporters who are far left are balanced out by the far right, so these two groups cancel each other out. Like I have said many times this election will be won or lost by gaining the vote of the non-committed moderates. The mud slinging & rhetoric directed towards the "liberals" on this forum is cartoonish.

Yep. I think it's frustrating to some of the people here who are exactly what they profess to hate (namely, fanatical followers, albeit opposite of the "libruls") that there are those of us who are relatively moderate and won't vote for McCain/Palin.

Also, I choose not to get into a 'conversation' (and I lose that term very loosely) about my reasons for voting for Obama because those who request such information truly don't care. A thread stating "what qualifies Obama to be President of the US? I don't get it. Educate me." Is clearly tongue in cheek and not actually asking for any true information, but rather existing as another forum for one side to bash, belittle, and besmirch (just wanted to use that word) the other side.

Enough reasons for you or will you just ignore what you don't want to see yet again?

I'll take ignore for $1,000, Alex.

I'm guessing VW will dodge my post in a way that would make Sarah Palin (the ultimate question dodger) very proud!

Post #72 is my response to yours.

"We don't take you seriously." " You don't really want to know." "I bet you'll ignore me."

All whining excuses for not giving serious, substantive, rational answers that don't hinge on who you hate, but why you like Obama.

Yet, I am patient . . .

Pretend the guy is paying you to represent him in a national forum, and go from there.

Via this thread, I have been able to distill down the naked truth that has been evident on days and days of posting in Hate Palin/GOP threads.

People don't like Obama as much as they hate conservatives. And, they make excuses for why they can't tell you what he believes.

End of story. I rest my case.

I'm voting for Obama because I can't stand the other guy seems to be the leading reason.

There you go again filtering out what you don't want to hear:

1. I generally agree with Obama's economic & foreign policy (this is the most important reason).

Reasons 2 & 3 are also valid reasons (continuing failed policies of the Bush administration & running a sleazy campaign). You would hope to be able to chose between two candidates you like, but in today's politics you are lucky to get one you don't hate.

As for your reasons to vote for McCain: He's more experienced and all Obama supporters are stupid, left wing sheep. Call me crazy but that sounds like something a 6th grader would come up with. For someone who thinks she is intellectually superior to those dumbass liberals I'd expect a more coherent position. :wow:

You're a hypocrite because you pretend to be above the fray enough to admonish others. But, you are not, and your smilie faces don't mitigate that fact.

Just a friendly reminder.

There is nothing wrong with being discerning and wanting to filter out the blaming, finger-pointing bullsh!t from rational reasoning. It's easy to criticise your opponent; that goes on all day here. I started this thread to try to get positive, reasonable explanations for electing Obama, and I refuse to be sidetracked by diversionary tactics. So far, I got a lot of excuses for not being straight up about Obama's positions and values, but little else.

wait...what the hell is going on? can I see someone's notes?

Short version. I asked why people were voting for Obama, and the basic answer is they hate the Republicans. I still don't know anything really positive about Obama's positions as a candidate and what makes him attractive except that he's not McCain.

from what I can see on VJ, that is why a lot of people are voting for McCain because he is not Obama...

I don't see that many people here who aren't voting for Obama. I think you can count us on your fingers and have some left over.

Of course, with a sample like that, you would think someone would know what Obama stands for.

VW your arguments are circular. You call everyone who has a different view than you do (to paraphrase) a stupid, left wing sheep. You then claim that they have no facts to back up their position, but when presented with the facts you ignore pieces of it that directly contradict what you have said previously & discount the rest. For you it's all your intellectually superior view vs the liberals. Because you hate liberals so much you assume anyone with a different viewpoint has a similar hatred of conservatives.

For me & probably the majority of posters here you are dead wrong. I don't hate conservatives... I rank Ronald Reagan as one of the best presidents we have ever had. I do however think Bush is one of the worst presidents ever & I see McCain continuing many of the same policies. This is a totally valid argument & to discount it is just wrong (you may disagree with this opinion, but you can't discount it). If it were simply a matter of I (and many others) disagreeing with your opinions you wouldn't stir up such a strong reaction to your posts. The fact is that you totally misrepresent & ridicule other opinions & when you do that you can't expect any respect for your opinions in return.

I have said it so many times I will probably develop carpal tunnel syndrome, but you really need to stop stereotyping Obama supporters. It's offensive but more importantly it's totally untrue. They have a different view than you do... accept it & move on. Like I've said many times before most of my friends are republicans & although I disagree with their opinions I don't ridicule them. Try some respect for once, you might find that people will actually listen to you.
