My wife and I are sending in our AOS paperwork this week and I have a few final quesitons. On form I-864, part 1, do I check box a (I am the petitioner. I filed.....) or do I leave blank, as shown in sample form on VJ website. In addition on part 3 I am listing my wife's son and checking box 9 ( I am sponsoring the following family members....), since he is a K2 visa holder under her K1 visa I assume that I do not need to fill out another I-864 for him. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well, I looked at the form after reading your question and think that if you are the only sponsor of your wife, you are the petitioner of the I-864 in other words you should check option 1a. 1d would then apply if you would be the only additional sponsor. Appearently VJ based their example for this situation. In my case my wife is sponsoring me and I checked 1d on the form so actually discovered that I filled it out wrong ): . Well, let's see if this is gonna be an issue they send RFE for. I actually don't think it should be such a big one, since the rest of the form would be filed out the same way. Is there anyone who made this mistake too and had an RFE?

"Often a spouse or minor children obtain visas or adjust statusas dependents of a relative, based on the same visa petition. If you are sponsoring such dependents, you only need to provide a photocopy of the original Form I-864, as long as these dependents are immigrating at the same time as the principal immigrant or within six months of the time he or she immigrates to the United States. You do not need to provide copies of the supporting documents for each of the photocopied Forms I-864."

In other words a photocopy of the I-864 with your sons application should be enough.
